I woke with a start. I was breathing hard and was almost afraid to look over at Yinlel. If it were not for his arms wrapped around me I would have feared that he really was taken from me. Silly Anya it was simply a dream. I sat up feeling much better than I had the day before.
I untangled myself from Yinlel and did my best to stand up. I was not doing a bad job. I took a step forward with my wobbly leg and held onto the side of the cave. I took another step and found my legs getting stronger and stronger with each step I walked down the side of the stream which I found got wider and had a stronger current the further down you went. I was doing a pretty good job so I decided to let go of the wall and head back to Yinlel. Right before I turned around I heard him yell my name in panic.
“ANYA!?!” He called out. It surprised me and caused me to lose my footing. I slipped into the water right as he came into view.
“ANYA!!” He cried as he rushed to me he grabbed my hand quickly I tried to pull out of the water but my hand slipped out of his and the current tore me away from him. As I was whisked away by the wild water I saw him run back to Yelix and grab him then run after me until I was no longer in view.
Eventually the water calmed down and opened up into a small underground pond. I pulled myself out of it and did my best to dry myself off. My teeth chattered as I tried to recollect myself.
“I am safe Yinlel. Hurry and get to the end of the stream but keep safe and know that I am not hurt” I think to him.
“ oh Anya I am so sorry! I did not mean to scare you and make you fall… I just had a bad dream… When I woke and you were not there I was scared..” he thought back.
So I was not the only one with bad dreams now. Had we had the same dream? Does it mean anything?
“It is ok. I am safe and so are you. Now hurry and get your lazy butt down here!” I joked. I could picture his laugh as I continued to dry myself off. I sat by the stream and let myself dry.
I had began to get a slight headache and could see the glow getting brighter and brighter. It made me hopeful. I could hear the soft fall of footsteps behind me and smiled knowing Yinlel would be here soon.
All of a sudden a heard a faint “pssst!” Behind me. I spun around to see who it was but I saw nothing. I turned back to where I was facing and sat back down.
“SPPPPTTTT!” It whispered again. I picked up a rock and spun around.
“WHO’S THERE!?” I asked into nothingness.
“Kimmy! I’m down here!” The voice called quietly from the ground. I looked down to see a small frog. I tilted my head curiously.
“You are Kimmy?” I asked the little frog.
“Well of course I am! Do YOU see anyone else here?” She asked me. I chuckled and kneeled down next to her shaking my head.
“I guess not. I just did not think Frogs could talk…” I began…
“WELL OF COURSE WE CAN TALK! What do you think we just stared at eachother all day??” She asked me.
“Well I guess not… sorry.. I guess what I meant to say was that I did not think frogs could talk to us…” I said.
“You mean frogs talking to humans? Nah doesn’t happen often.” She told me.
“I am actually not human” I tell her.
“You look pretty human to me!” Kimmy says.
“I’m not actually. I come from a different realm. I come from a tribe of magic users… I guess some of us can talk to animals… maybe I am one as well. Although we have a few animals that are a bit different than they are here on the earth realm.” I say to her.
