"Oh no... No no no no no..." Andrew shouted. A million things rang through his head, but what was for sure, he was terrified. Skyler. He just felt... connected to her? He grabbed her wrist to check for a pulse.
Nothing.
He moved his fingers to her neck to check again.
Nothing.
He felt like his heart was stopping, but it was still deffinetly beating compared to hers. "Sh-she.. We just... Did we..."
They all stared at her. Her skin slowly turning white. A sparkling grey and brown mist began to appear, suffocating her entire body. It was like a coffin, fully envoloping her body.
"Pųķåņğ įđœþš," Chris muttered, walking over to Skyler, and kneeling in front of her, blocking any view that they had may have had of her previously.
They could only get a few glimpses as Chris' hands moved around her upper body. He was there for about 6 seconds before getting up and moving to the side.
One second. Two seconds.
Silence.
Five seconds.
Silence.
Ten seconds. Fifteen seconds.
Silence.
Twenty seconds. Twenty one-
Cough.
Everyone's eyes shot over to look at Skyler, as she shot up into a sitting position, coughing for a few seconds. Her skin went back to it's normal color, and the mist dissolved, showing her body completely unharmed. No cuts. No marks.
"Oh my Gods Skyler! You scared the crap out of me!" Andrew shouted, lurching forward to hug her.
She sat there with a blank expression, before looking over at Chris. "What do you think Chris?"
"The wind caught me be suprise too."
"Wait what?" Julia blurted. "Is nobody else curious as to how she is fully unscathed?"
"Look behind you," Skyler replied, pointing to the empty weapons rack. "Those were all fake weapons that were part of the illusion. They feel real, and seem real, but dissapears with the scene. And-"
"Then what happened?" Jay interrupted. "Why did you pass out? What was that-"
"Let me finish Jay!" Skyler snapped at him, and then softened. "All of the weapons were fake, but Julia knocked the air out of my chest when she hit me with a gust of wind. I also wanted to mess with you. Plus, the daggers that Blue had were real, so that fucking hurt."
"At least you're okay," Andrew said softly.
"Yes, now let go of me Andrew," Skyler snapped quietly, and he backed up, confused. She got up and walked to the door. "Training is over," she said and walked out the door.
All of them quickly were gone through a portal back to their camp. All except Andrew. He had walked out of the training stadium and followed after Skyler. All the way to her tent. Once he walked in, he saw her fiddling in a chest.
"Skyler?" He asked softly.
She turned around in a huff and then frowned. "What is it you want? I have no business with you."
"You haven't actually talked to me in some time..." he replied, slowly walking towards her. "It's just.. Why are you so mad at me?"
She turned turned to him, and looked down at his hands as they touched hers. She moved back and furrowed her eyebrows before shouting angrily, "I'm not mad at you! Just get out of here! Get out of my tent! Out of this camp! J-Just go!"
He grabbed her upper arms, to stop her from swinging her hands everywhere. Her eyes swirled with emotions as he stared into them. "Skyler," he said softly. "Calm down. Please."
"I-I have some things to do," She said, pushing him aside and grabbing a bag before rushing out of her rent.
"Skyler, wait!" He called, jogging after her. He followed her all the way into the forest. It was easily one of her favorite places, and Andrew knew that. Once he caught up to her, he noticed that she was just sitting there in the flowery paradise she loved to sneak off to. "Sky, what's wrong?"
"Nothing," she spat. She was sitting on her knees, and frantically searching in the bag that seemingly had nothing.
"What are you looking for?" He asked slowly walking towards her.
She let out a loud exasperated sigh, leaning over onto the backpack like she was bowing, and it sunk it to the ground: gone. She flipped over, putting her knees to her chest, and burrying her head. "Doesn't matter anymore."
He sat beside her, facing her, in a criss cross position. "Skyler, tell me what's wrong. Just- Just talk to me. That's all I want. Tell me anything. Whatever is troubeling you. Don't think about what you say, just say it."
She looked up, and turned her body to face his, mimicking his position, before letting out a deep breathe. She looked at the ground and spoke, "I- I'm so... I just... Camp frusrates me. You frustrate me.. All the words you say to me. The things you do. Sometimes I don't know how to act around you- of other people- but- It's how I was raised," she paused, her eyes swirling, and then she started to talk faster. "It was like I was controlled. And it annoys me that I still have the same habits I was taught to have when I was younger. It's like I'm this sort of puppet. Beautiful and confident. Agile and calm. Intellectual. Perfect. They critiqued everything about me, and in the end it always came down to one thing. I had to be perfect in combat, cunning, deceptive, one that could hide and control all emotion and pain. That's what I had to become to leave. But-"
"Sky are you-?"
She looked up at him, her eyes watering, swirling with fear. Pain. Anger. "But I'm not perfect. I've done so many terrible things. Things I'm not proud of. Things that haunt me at night. I've killed innocent people! And to what?! I thought I could escape from it all, but it's a never ending cycle! I'm not normal! I thought I was helping people, but you don't understand... I-"
Andrew opened his arms and Skyler fell into them, crying. "You're okay," he whispered in her ear. "They can't get you. I'm here. You're safe with me."
"Andrew," she sobbed. "I can't lie to you anymore. I-I have to tell you.. why I'm here. Everything..."
"No matter what it is, I'll always love you."
And she did. She told him every single detail. All the secrets she was sworn to secrecy by. She cried through it all. When she finished, he was silent, but she knew he heard all of it.
They layed down beside each other, and she burried her head in his chest. It seemed great to both of them. Silence. Peace. Perfection. They stared at the early morning sky while the stars were still there.
That was until Raven appeared right in front of them, and they scrambled getting up. "They are coming. I can sense it. Get to the camp ASAP, they'll be there in an hour," she said before disappearing into a portal.
They both jumped up, but right before Skyler could start toward the camp, Andrew stopped her. He pulled her close, their chests touching.
Skyler grabbed his left wrist, stopping him, and loftly strocked his wrapped hand. "What happened?"
"Jay and I were practicing... You know you just ruined what could have been a really sentimental moment?"
"I know," she whispered before wrapping her arms around him and kissing him. A passionate kiss between the both of them, healing all the problems they had. All was good. Just a moment- where everything in the universe was at peace.
Except, it was just stalling time for them, from what Skyler knew had to happen next...
