The silence was eating away at my insides as the truck traveled down the now familiar streets that led to Hell on earth. No music played and the only sound I could hear was the roar of the noisy engine and my own pounding heart beat. I was too scared to even look at Nick as I pondered all the things he could do to me. Why did I let him do this? Just kill him Lauren, it would be so easy to do it, his neck was in your claws all you had to do was push down. I can't just kill someone, I can't be the monster he wants me to be, the monster he thinks Derek is. The monster you thought he was? Shut up, why the hell am I fighting with myself? I tried to focus on something other than my own pessimistic thoughts.
The drive seemed so much longer with Nick in the car. I had always felt like the ride was too short but now it was all I wanted. Was he going slow or something I swear we should have been there by now? The streets were all the same and I recognized the names of the roads as we passed. I had seen these concrete paths of Hell so often I had seen them more than the halls of the school I was supposed to be going to. When was the last time I had gone to schools? Two days ago? Two weeks?
Nick's place finally came in to view and I had suddenly regretted wanting the car ride to end. In the car I was safe, in the car cops could save me, not in there. There was his realm, there there were no rules, there I was the toy, there my pain was exploited, there there was no one to save me. This time it felt different, I have always known that coming here was wrong, that I should tell Derek, but this time it really felt like if I went in I wouldn't come back out the same. If I was the key that Nick thought I was, I was about to unlock a door I didn't want open. My heart was a deafening drum that blocked out all the noise. I barely even knew the car had stopped before Nick was grabbing by the arm, dragging me down his labyrinth of demonic halls. Did the people who come here know what goes on beneath the surface?
The doors opened and the sickening chair of cold steal and unloving light were the only things I could see. The smell of chemical cleaners and sterile metal rushed into my nose. I fought the shiver that was trying to tear down my spine. The room was cold and the tips of my fingers were becoming numb. I was frozen at the door and I knew I couldn't go in that room. Not this time, but would could I do, if I didn't Nick would kill Derek.
"Time to get it over with Lauren, I do believe that I'll finally understand what you unlock." Nick grabbed my arm roughly and dragged me inside his room of pain. I pulled out of his grasp as he shut and locked the door. His smirk was returning to his face and I growled my eyes shifting to focus on his body language. The only problem was none of Nick's body language gave anything away; his poker face surpassed just his face. Before I had time to react Nick had grabbed a hold of my wrists and was pushing me back toward the chair. He pushed my body back and down till I had no choice but to collapse into the chair. Nick knew that wasn't going to work long enough to lock the restraints around my wrist so he got on top of me using his full body weight to hold me down. I fought as hard as I could against him. Claws sprouted from my finger tips and I felt the tearing of flesh beneath my nails as I tore deep gashes into the side of his face. The warm blood shot into the creases of my nail bed and oozed its thick liquid across my freezing fingers. Nick staggered back for just a second and readjusted his grip on my wrists. He tried to push my arms down but I kicked up hard causing him wince in pain. He sat up higher on my waist so that I couldn't kick his vulnerable area again.
My heart was going a mile a minute and I fought with the beat. Nick was struggling, but he was also a lot bigger than I was. I didn't quite know how to control my werewolf side and that was a problem. If I didn't figure it out fast I was going to lose this battle. I twirled my wrist loosening Nicks grasp. I pulled back quickly ripping my hands from his. With claws fully extended one had slashed his face once more while the other dug into his chest as I pushed him off me. We both fell into a crumpled mess on the floor, I having fallen on Nick. I pushed off him and ran for the door, but before I could get too far Nick grabbed a hold of my ankle. I fell to the floor with a heavy thud. Nick pulled back on my leg causing my body to slide back to him. It gave me just the right amount of room to kick and I planted my foot right into the center of his face. I crawled away hoping to get enough room to stand and run.
I brought my knee to my chest and pushed off the ground, launching myself at the door. I grasped at the lock when Nick grasped a chunk of my hair pulling my head back. I responded by thrusting my elbow into his gut. He pushed my head forward, slamming it into the metal door. He then pulled back on my hair again throwing me back into the room. I rolled across the floor but then I pushed up bringing my leg with me till I was crouched on one foot causing me to skid to a stop. Nick was already moving toward me so I kicked with my free leg sweeping Nick's legs out from beneath him. As he fell he grabbed my hair again making me become off balanced and I fell with him.
Once on the ground I tried to get up as quickly as possible but Nick was faster. He grabbed my arm pulling me back on the ground, my back flat against the floor. He pinned my arms to my sides with his legs as he tried to grab something out of his pocket. Nick, however, was sitting to high on my chest so I kicked off the ground and wrapped my leg around his neck from behind and pulled him off me and back to the ground. I scrambled to my feet and jumped over his body. I grabbed the lock and flipped the latch; all I had to do was open the door. I pulled cracking the door, but before I could get much further Nick pushed at the door with one hand and slammed my face into it once more closing it shut. He went again for his pocket and I had just enough room to turn myself to face him. I brought my leg up and kicked at his hand. We both froze as we watched Nick's taser slide across the floor away from the both of us. If he got a hold of that taser and he used it on me I would lose my ability to fight and he would win.
Nick pushed off the door and went for the teaser. I grabbed hold of his arm and slung him away from the electrical gun and into the wall. Nick was right next to the door jam and I pulled open the door slamming it into Nick's face. I could have gone for the taser, but I chose to run my way out of this. There was no way Nick could get me back without that taser and I thought I had enough time. I dashed out the room taking the stairs up two at a time. I was at the top when Nick came to the stairs, taser in hand, tripping on the first couple of steps and falling back down. I ran down the maze of halls until I reached sun light. The door was within my grasp when a foot wrapped around my leg causing me to stumble. I caught myself on the door before I hit the floor. I kicked back pushing Nick further away from me. I pulled myself up as I pulled open the door.
The light blinded my eyes as they adjusted from the darkness that was Nick's playground. I moved away from the door but I didn't know what my next move was. I didn't have my truck with me this time, Nick had driven me here. The only thing I could do was just keep running. I was almost to the pavement of the road when an arm wrapped around my torso. Something jabbed into my side and electrifying pain shot through my entire body. My muscles started spasming and I felt my legs fallout from under me. Nick's arm tightened holding me up. The taser was still pressed into my side and my body was becoming limp.
The pavement was getting farther and farther away. Soon I was swallowed up by the blackness again. My limbs swayed back and forth as Nick carried me away from the light of day. Why, why couldn't I be faster? Why couldn't there have been someone on the road? I was scared, I wanted Derek. Tears filled my eyes and started flowing like waterfalls down my cheek. "You thought you could take this away from me didn't you?" Nick whispered as he placed my limp body on the chair. He grabbed my lifeless arms one at a time, placing them in the arm restraints. He then moved to the leg restraints, but I still couldn't feel anything. "You're mine now little wolf." Little wolf, only Derek called me that, how did he know?
