"Maybe instead of singing you could actually get stuff done... party starts in an hour." Phil flicked my arm. I had been dancing and shouting along to my favorite Muse song before he stopped me so rudely.

I groaned in reply but got to work as he turned the music down. I didn't want to have a party but Phil thought it would be good to get everyone together for the new year.

"Get a boyfriend they said... it'll be great they said." I snickered under my breath.

"Phan they said. They should be together they said." Phil pushed me onto the couch and leaned over me. I giggled, leaning up to kiss him but he dodged and headed to the kitchen to set out the drinks.

"Did you get cranberry cider?" I shouted.

"Dang I forgot." Phil joked but when I entered he was already pouring me a glass.

The doorbell rang sending us both in the air. Whoever it was was too early.

"It's probably Pj. Let me get it." Phil jogged out of the room. I sipped my drink even though I should wait. It was just too good.

I heard loud voices after the door opened. Phil shushed them instantly as if keeping whatever they had said a secret.

"You're the first one here." Phil commented before entering the kitchen with Pj behind him.

"Hi Dan." He waved and leaned against the wall. "Well I am an hour early. But come on only five more hours until 2017! That's insane!" He bounced on his toes.

"Why are you so excited about that? It's terrifying that 365 days went by this fast." I set down my drink to rub my eyes.

"Because 2016 was a train wreck for most people. A lot of bad things happened in the world and I'm ready to see some good. Hopefully 2017 will work out." Pj sighed.

"I had an alright year tbh." I shrugged.

"Me too. I did finally get with the man of my dreams." Phil chuckled, turning to organize the drinks, making me blush.

"Did you just call me the man of your dreams?" I asked quietly.

"What? Oh no I was talking about Victor.." He smirked at me. "You know with his silver hair... Those awesome legs..." He went on slowly but each word he took a small step closer me until he was right in front of me. "Who else would I mean?"

I bit my lip and stared into his sparkling eyes.

"Well.. I think I may go check what's next on the music list." Pj interrupted. Phil held my stare so all I could do was hum in reply to the poor guy.

"Say it again." I whispered to keep this moment to ourselves.

"You're the man of my dreams, Dan." He kissed me softly before backing up and carrying the cider out to the living room. I was left, leaning up against the counter with a blush matching my cranberry cider.

Soon the party started to take off. Friend after friend arrived helping it grow and become more fun. We had invited everyone we knew for this. Most of which came. Some had other plans for the last night of the year.

With the best music playing and everyone conversing, I felt content. It was a great feeling to just relax with my friends.

What a way to finish 2016.

"Two hours!!" Someone announced making people cheer.

"Wow." Phil snuck up on me. "Can you believe 2016 is over?" He sighed and looked into my eyes, his own sparkling.
