As summer rolled around and school got out, Eridan was able to spend more time with Sollux. They played a lot and Eridan got a heck of a lot more exercise with him around. The two were sitting drawing together when the front door swung open. Eridan glanced over and saw his older brother, Cronus, stride in.
"Croww!" He cried, throwing himself at Cronus.
"Eri!" Cronus hugged him, grinning. "Glad to see ya, chief." Eridan giggled. Sollux watched from the table alone.
"A neww coffee shop opened wwhile you wwere gone. Wwanna go?"
"Still stickin' to your hipster roots, I see." Cronus ruffled his hair. "I'm cool vwith that."
Sollux waddled over and tugged on Eridan's pants leg. "Can I come too?"
"Vwoah, hey, you uh... you got a pet," Cronus mumbled.
"Wwe rescued him."
"Vwith out askin' me?"
"Look Croww, I knoww you don't like pets but he wwas abused before wwe found him."
"Maybe it should'a stayed that vway." Cronus muttered. Sollux growled.
"I'll leavve you at Kar's house," Eridan murmured, picking Sollux up. Sollux sighed.
Karkat glanced at the clock long after the sun had gone down. Sollux sat on the couch. He hadn't moved, except when Karkat made him macaroni and cheese for dinner. His mind was whirring in a haze of anger at Cronus. Eridan had been the only one that had cared about him and Cronus stole him.
There was a knock at the door and Sollux jumped to his paws, expecting to see Eridan. Instead, he got Cronus.
"I'm s'posed to take the little brat home," Cronus uttered.
Sollux growled but walked out with him anyway.
The walk home was passed in silence. Cronus opened the front door and shut it on Sollux's tail. The pet yelped before growling.
"Why are you treating me like thith?!"
"That's not somethin' you need ta knowv."
Sollux growled and felt a tingly feeling in his horns, tail still stuck in the door. "If ED knowth then I detherve to know!" Sollux yelled.
"Cute. You think you're equals." Cronus bent down in front of him. "Vwell guess vwhat- you're not."
Sollux screeched and several pieces of silverware flew at Cronus.
"The fuck?!" Cronus yelled and dodged them. The tingling had turned into a violent vibrating.
Eridan came down the stairs and the vibrating gave way to a headache.
