Chapter 5 - The Sleeping Girl on A Bus Stop

the next day, 1000 Hours - Akazawa's house, Fuefuki

at Detective Akazawa's house, Evan opens his laptop and tried to access local databases to search for the listed people, only one came up on the screen. someone who happened to be named "Okami" who was reported missing on the night before the suicide, Evan was concerned about the other person's information. he decided to access databases from multiple embassies across Japan, he eventually found the information of "Katherine Tanner", a 16-year old girl from New York. he eventually tried contacting the US Embassy in Tokyo to look for her. "yes, this is DS Evan Price from Lancashire Constabulary, do you have any further information about Katherine Tanner from New York?" he asked through the phone. a man from the embassy positively replied and stated that she recently had an abortion in Tokyo. "okay, thank you" Evan said through the phone before ending the call. meanwhile in Tokyo, Jack's car was ready for it's journey to Fuefuki but the lieutenant receives a call from Evan. he answered the phone and asked him about the investigation. "Jack, change of plan. the yanks told me that the girl listed on the note recently had an abortion at a local clinic in Tokyo. i'll send you the coordinates, just let me know if something's come up" Evan said before ending the call as he sends the coordinates to the clinic. after recieving it, Jack drove to the designated location and asked the owner of the clinic about an american girl who came in for the abortion, they positively responded and what Jack had to do was to ask for DNA samples of the aborted child. he eventually drove off to a forensic lab and tested one of the samples along with a sample of Riley's DNA given by the NCA. after a few minutes, he suddenly discovered that both samples had matching DNA. "bloody hell..." Jack mumbled and took his phone out to call Evan. once the call was answered, Jack told him regarding the outcome of the test. "it turns out that she was pregnant with Riley's child" Jack said through the phone, "are you sure? did you check?" Evan asked. "yeah...i'm just walking out of a forensics lab as we speak" Jack answered. "so what now?" Evan asked. "i'm gonna talk to the yanks and look for her, she may still be here. how about the other guy?" Jack asked. "Akazawa told me that his body's been found in the woods outside of town, we're heading there after lunch" Evan answered.

1400 hours - at the woods outside of Fuefuki

at the woods in the very outskirts of Fuefuki, Evan followed Agent Hollis to what seemed like a frightening sight, it turned out to be Okami. "shit..." Evan mumbled. "i know..." Hollis responded. "how the bloody hell could this happen...?" Evan asked. "forensics say it was a suicide, said to have died at 0100. his fingerprints were even found in MacMillan's and Tanner's, a potential love triangle is said to be involved" Hollis answered. "poor lad...tell the forensics to have the body extracted, i gotta clear my head" Evan said as he walked off to search his way back to town.

1630 hours - at the very edge of town

at a bus stop in the northeast edge of town, a young girl sat on the bench, almost dosing off just moments before rain fell to the roof of the bus stop. Evan quickly ran to the bench and sat beside her, letting her sense his presence. she slowly landed her head on Evan, feeling the warmth of his jacket. he suddenly wrapped his right arm around her, warming her up even more before a suspicious man came up and stared at her. Evan looked at the man and he was suddenly concerned, "y-you uh...found...my daughter! y-yes" the man nervously lied in japanese. "oh...is that so...?" Evan said, looking at the girl as she slowly woke up. "hm..?" she mumbled and suddenly became scared. "oi...what's goin' on?" Evan asked in japanese. "t-that's not my father..." she said in english. "wha-- wha..?" Evan said, looking at the man before suddenly blacking out. he eventually found himself fallen to the floor in what seemed to look like the girl's flat. "are you okay?" the girl asked Evan in japanese. "yeah yeah...i'm fine" Evan responded with a nod. "just...who was that?" he asked. "it was a mugger...he's been following me around all day..." she answered. "should've know..." he mumbled. "Kizukinosuke Miyuki..." the girl said, introducing herself. "Evan Price" he responded, also introducing himself as he stood up yet feeling dizzy. "you don't look so good, Evan-kun..." Miyuki said. "yeah...can i lie down for a bit?" Evan asked. "my room is at the end of the corridor, you can rest there" Miyuki said. Evan walked off to the bedroom, took off his shoes and lied on the bed then eventually falling asleep.
