2100 hours - somewhere in Tokyo
meanwhile in a parked Sprinter van in Tokyo, Jack sat in front of the computer installed in the very back. he was tracking what happened to be the mobile phone number of Katie Tanner who turned out to be the ex-girlfriend of the young MacMillan, the target slowly moves into the direction of the van and the lieutenant was trying his best to remain quiet. "now where would you be going..." Jack mumbled as Katie walked past the van. he kept watching the moniter until she went out of sight and stopped at least two minutes later, Jack knew it may be where she would be staying so he marked the location in order to return on the next day.
the next day, 1300 hours - Fuefuki, Japan
back in Fuefuki, Evan's phone suddenly rang and notifies it's owner that Jack is calling him. "yeah..." Evan said, answering the phone. "i've marked Katie Tanner's current location, we should be on to her soon enough" Jack said. "alright, cool" Evan replied. "so are you gonna come along on this?" Jack asked him. "can't...i need to start collecting evidence since we're finishing up soon" Evan answered. "right...but you better make it on the plane to Glasgow tomorrow or we're leaving you behind" Jack said. "yeah yeah i'll talk to ya later" Evan replied before ending the call. he eventually decided to hurry to Riley's flat to collect the evidence before checking on Miyuki. once he reached her flat, he heard something that bothered him. "this strange feeling..." Miyuki mumbled to herself, unaware that Evan heard her. "Miyuki?" Evan said as he knocked on the door before opening. "why can't i stop thinking about him...?" Miyuki continued mumbling to herself in Japanese. "oi Miyuki, are you alright?" Evan asked. "e-eh!? Evan-kun!?" Miyuki answered, she seemed to be nervous. "what are you on about, Miyuki?" Evan asked. "n-nothing nothing..." Miyuki answered as she looked down, blushing. Evan quietly sighed and decided to go along with it, thinking the blonde-haired girl could be in love with him. but in reality, Miyuki wasn't thinking of the detective from Lancashire but someone from her school. she didn't want to say anything, she just wanted to keep it a secret from him. after a while, Evan eventually returned to his room at Akazawa's house and rested up for the next day.
the following day's afternoon, 1500 hours...
at the front gate of a local high school in Fuefuki, Evan walked along the very road moments before high school students began walking along. he became curious if Miyuki ever went to school but that though came up at a bad moment. Evan suddenly saw Miyuki hugging a male student and kissing his cheek from behind, he was deep in emotional shock as he watched from the distance. he followed the couple around the town, kept his distance and remained undetected until his phone suddenly rang, "shit!" he mumbled to himself as he brought up his phone, Jack was calling him so he had to answer. "Jack..." Evan loudly whispered through the phone, "Evan? what's goin' on? we got Katie Tanner in custody and she's gonna be questioned, why are you gone quiet?" Jack asked. "w-wha-- already...!?" Evan said. "yeah, aren't come along and cooperate for your friend?" Jack replied. "i'm still analyzing the evidence, don't worry" Evan said. "well at least hurry up, we're gonna have her in trial at Glasgow tomorrow, i hope you won't forget about that" Jack replied. "i won't! now if you please excuse me--" Evan said as he hung up. "bloody hell..." Evan angrily mumbled as he randomly hits a wall with his hand then sat on a bench, feeling sorry for himself.
1730 hours - Tokyo International Airport
Jack and Katie waited in the private hangar at the airport. they were growing impatient, concerned about Evan as time passed. when the two saw the Insignia sedan, Jack thought it was Evan. only Agent Hollis came out and said that Evan couldn't come along. "what the bloody hell is up with him..." Jack mumbled to himself after a sigh. he decided to tell the pilot of the private jet that he'll have to stay behind then approached Hollis. "i'm gonna go look for him, two of you should go on to Glasgow without us" Jack said to him. "what about the two of you?" Hollis asked. "we'll take the next flight, don't worry now go" Jack said before taking the Insignia sedan then drove off to Fuefuki.
several hours later...
after hours of driving and searching, Jack finally arrived in Fuefuki but couldn't find Evan anywhere. even in Detective Akazawa's house, the scouse detective was nowhere to be found. he tried calling his phone but there was no answer, he decided to give up for the night and slept in the driver's seat of the Insignia with the engine turned off. meanwhile, Evan walked along the residential area with a frightened expression as if the world was ending. he eventually passed out in front of someone's house despite the lack of consumed alcohol. a woman who happened to be a year older than him eventually found him and dragged him to her room where he could rest easily but that never helped against an upcoming nightmare. in that bad dream, Evan found himself in Riley's place, witnessing the fact that the suicide was actually caused by the love triangle mentioned earlier on. he was afraid, not only thinking the same could happen but also dreamt a wedding ceremony with the other male as the groom and Miyuki as the bride. as this progressed throughout the night, eyes endlessly flowed from his concealed eyes which would turn and glow yellow upon his awakening.
