Chapter 6 - Unexpected Turn of Events

2000 hours - Miyuki's flat

after hours of sleeping, Evan woke up and found Miyuki holding him from behind like a stuffed bear, he picked up his phone to find out that Hollis sent him a text, notifying that the body is already being examined at the hospital and he's now looking for him. Miyuki slowly woke up and asked Evan about the time. "eight in the evening" he said. "aren't you going home?" Miyuki asked. "i think i should..." Evan answered then sat up. "i'll come back tomorrow.. just in case that mugger's still on to you..." he said before leaving the flat. once he left, he suddenly found Akazawa's car going at his direction. Hollis was driving but Evan couldn't see as it was too dark. Hollis suddenly stepped out of the car and ran to Evan. "Evan!? are you alright now?" he asked. "yeah yeah...i got a bit lost..." Evan answered before stepping into the front passenger side of the car. Hollis then returned to the driver's seat and drove him back to Akazawa's house.

0800 hours, the next day - Akazawa's house

after a decent breakfast, Evan stood outside of the house as he tries to call Jack. "Parsons here" Jack said through the phone. "hey, it's Evan" he replied. "oh hey, what happened to you yesterday?" Jack asked. "battery died off" Evan answered, "anyways, i just wanna let you know that the forensics are taking care of Okami's body" Evan said. "oh that's right, Hollis already told me that" Jack replied. "really?" Evan asked. "yeah, he said you must have been lost yesterday so he told me while he was looking for you" Jack answered. "well that's good, what about Katie Tanner?" Evan asked. "we still haven't got a lead...we'll let you know once we do" Jack said. "right...talk to you later" Evan replied before ending the call. he then pocketed his phone and sighed, "what the bloody hell am i supposed to be doing now that i have to wait...?" Evan mumbled to himself. he began taking a walk around town then suddenly came across a nice garden in front of a shinto shrine, he became curious and so he began exploring the garden then suddenly bumping into a young girl. it wasn't Miyuki but someone who happened to have a familiar face. "o-oh...i'm very sorry" Evan said in japanese as he bowed. "eh...? Evan?" the girl said, "Kairi? is that really you?" Evan asked. "we go to Whitecross together in Hereford, remember?" Kairi asked. "bloody hell, of course...sorry about what happened back then" Evan said. "it's okay, i know you were just angry at that guy" Kairi replied. "what happened there, by the way?" Evan asked. "a lot of us transferred away, one by one" Kairi answered. "what about those ponces that picked on me a lot? what happened to them?" Evan asked. "last i heard, they were in some christian church in the US" Kairi answered. "then i guess hypocrisy saved the day for once, yeah?" Evan said. "i agree" Kairi replied. "how about you? did you transfer along?" Evan asked. "yeah...mum and dad knew..." Kairi answered. "i should go back to cleaning, can i still see you later?" Kairi asked. "yeah, i'll still be here...for at least a while" Evan answered as he slowly stepped back. "hey Evan...i'm sorry about Riley" Kairi said. "it's okay..." Evan replied before walking off.

1700 hours - Miyuki's flat

after hours of exploring the town, Evan knocked on the Miyuki's door to check on her. "Miyuki? it's DS Evan Price, i'm just here to check on you" Evan said through the door but there was no answer. he called her name once more but there's still no response. he had no choice but to open the door, "Miyuki, i'm opening the door" Evan said as he turned the knob and slowly pushed the door open. he looked around the suddenly found Miyuki passed out on the corridor. "oh crap...Miyuki!?" Evan said as he tried to wake her up. "Miyuki, wake up..." he said, rapidly shaking her body then took her to her bed. "come on Miyuki, wake up" Evan said moments before her eyes suddenly opened. "n-no-- ahh!!" Miyuki screamed as a white aura overflowed from her body. "Miyuki!?" Evan said, witnessing the aura flow from her until seconds later when it suddenly stopped. Miyuki was breathing heavily and Evan was shocked from whatever he witnessed. "Miyuki...are you okay...?" Evan asked. "Evan..." Miyuki said. "...you're going to be okay, Miyuki...you're gonna be just fine..." Evan said. "how can you be so sure...?" Miyuki asked, "because i know it..." he answered. "but...we just met and...you don't even know much about me..." Miyuki said. "well it doesn't matter anymore...because i'm here for you..." Evan said. "Evan...thank you..." Miyuki said as her hair suddenly turned blonde and her eyes turning blue. Evan held her gently in his arms with tears flowing from his eyes.
