I called into work today so that I could write xD I couldn't help myself.

The Wolf Prince | Chapter Twenty Four

"We both know you have a secret." I smile sweetly at Ky, my eyes drinking him in. He stood still with his arms crossed over his chest, muscles bulging. He was close and I could feel our warm breath mixing, I could feel the warmth from his body. I was so aware of him.

"As do you." He replies, his voice low and smooth, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.

"Many of them," I agree, my eyes narrowing to his. "So here's what I'm proposing," his chuckle cuts me off.

"Don't you think it's a bit soon in our relationship to be proposing anything?" he smirks, running a hand through his dark hair, his green orbs on mine, teasing.

"Ha, hilarious," I fake laugh, rolling my eyes at him. "Don't get too excited." I bite my bottom lip to stop myself from saying anything else, anything stupid.

"Too late," he winks, leaning against the tree behind him, his eyes were on me, waiting.

"A truth for a truth?" I ask my voice softer, uneasy. He just watches me, his eyes roaming my face, to my eyes, my lips, my neck, my lips again and then back to my eyes. I'm still under his gaze, hot like fire but shivering like it's below zero degrees.

"Sounds like a game," he says finally with a smirk. I didn't doubt that he would accept my bargain, at what cost was the real question.

"Something along those lines," I reply, sitting down on a fallen tree. I watch as he pushes off his tree to sit beside me. Too close, but I don't move and neither does he.

"And the prize?" he asks, his sharp eyes grazing mine as he smiles. My breath catches, fuck he is attractive. I smile back biting my lip hard as he watches me, watches my lips.

Dangerous waters.

"The winner gets to decide." I reply and look away, breathing in deeply attempting to calm my racing heart.

"You ask first," he offers, turning to face me on the narrow stump. I turn to face him as well, and we sit there for a moment our hands placed on the log between us. Too close.

We had decided that the winner would be declared as soon as one of us couldn't answer a truth, leaving that person the loser. It was a simple game really, leaving me with hopefully many opportunities to ask the questions I needed to. Assuming that Ky had the answers. But I knew I better start off simple. If I were to make Ky my accomplice, I needed to know the basics.

"How old are you?" I cringed at my own ridiculous question, and Ky laughed at me. We both knew it was a waste of a question and this surpassed the basics of the basic but it had been a question that I had been wondering since I had met him. I wanted to know.

"Twenty two," he laughed, shaking his head. I bit my lip; he was a year older than Grayson. I watched him silently as he thought of a question; his eyes were scanning the forest behind me. "Why aren't you alpha yet?" his eyes slide back to mine, his lips set in a thin line, like something was irritating him.

"I-" I sighed, my shoulders sagging. God, out of all the questions why this one? I mean it wasn't a terrible question but part of me was ashamed that I wasn't an alpha yet. "I was supposed to be when I turned eighteen, my dad was supposed to retire but something made him decide not to, he didn't think I was ready." I look away, embarrassed. "It doesn't even matter because I can't technically be titled as alpha until the Prince is found." My frown, my voice hardly a whisper. It sucked, like a lot. I was really excited to be alpha, to lead my pack and take over for my father, to make him proud.

"Hey," Ky's finders tilt my chin to look at him. Our eyes meet and I nibble on my bottom lip. "Titles don't matter; you can still be an amazing leader but not be alpha."

"But you're an alpha, right?" I ask letting a single brow rise.

"Is that your next question?" he smirks, tilting his head to the side. Damn that jaw. My eyes travel, damn that neck. Damn those li- he's smirking.

"If that's what it sounded like, then that's what it is." I retort, my eyes challenging him.

"Yes. Technically I am an alpha, but you already knew that." And he was right, I did know he was an alpha; I knew he was since the first time I saw him when he attacked Erik, when I didn't even know who he was. I could just feel his strength; his power. His presence was intimidating, overpowering, like none other alpha I had ever met.

Dangerous.

"Why don't you trust your mate?" He asks, jaw clenched and fists in tight balls. I shuddered as I looked into his darkening eyes.

"Uh," how the fuck do I explain this? I laugh to myself, shaking my head. "I thought you already knew this?" I narrow my eyes at him.

"I do, I know what his father did. But it must run deeper than that." He licks his bottom lip, eyes narrowing skeptically back at me.

"My mother cheated on my father with Grayson's father." I spit out the words like venom. I was disgusted to say it let alone think about it. I hated that those words came from my lips. I detested them both, Gavin and my mother. She hurt my father and I could never forgive her, but it's not like it would matter to her anyway. I still had yet to talk to my father about my little discovery, and I had no idea how I would ever bring it up.

"Oh," he mumbled, breaking eye contact. "I can see why that might be a turn off," he adds, gazing at our hands. Hands that are inches apart.

"Yea," I whisper, looking down too, then quickly look away, off into the distance of the trees. "D-do you have a family?" I stutter.

"Not anymore." His voice his deep, eyes sad. I frown at him. I knew I wouldn't ask what had happened to his family. It was personal. Too personal.

"Why were you looking for the alpha of Ember's son? For Cory?" he doesn't look at me when he asks this, his eyes were still sad, distracted by my last question.

"I had a few questions I wanted to ask him..." I trail off, his question taking me by surprise.

"That doesn't really answer the question," his eyes snap to mine and he nudges a little closer.

Dangerous waters.

"I-" I begin to come up with an excuse, a snarky reply.

"You could have asked his father, you know Alpha David. So, why so specific?" he raises a taunting brow, another smirk. Another shiver.

"That's two questions," I point out, biting my lip.

"I still haven't gotten an answer," he teases, moving so close that I can feel his warm breath fan my face. I can smell is sweet scent. I can see the flakes of yellow in his beautiful green eyes. I choke on my next breath, my heart racing.

"I won Princess."

I was drowning.
