Chapter 5

                  Sasha’s POV

<I’m standing looking up at the night sky, it’s so clear and full of sparkling stars. It’s breathtaking. I can smell a sweet fragrance of flowers and green summer grass. I feel the grass in-between my toes, it’s damped, but not cold. The wind is only a gentle breeze to cool down the hot summer night. I lean into the body standing behind me and feel strong arms wrapping them self securely around me. I feel safe, I feel at home…

I hear a voice in the distance or maybe it’s near. I can’t get a hold of it, but the words are clear even if they are nothing but a murmur in the night: “You’re created from the brightest stars that was your parents, you hold a shining star in your heart for San-San, can you give me a place on the night sky so I can shine with you?”

“But you are the brightest off all my stars, you’re the one lighting my heart…” an even softer voice answers in the breeze and it feels like it’s speaking from the foundation of my own core. >

I feel the dream is slipping away, I don’t want it to go away so I try to lure my body to stay asleep, but my body has deceived me and are ready to start a new day. In the process of waking up I brace myself to start feeling alone, because I want to be back in the happy land and not wake up to the harsh reality. But as sleep is letting go I get surprised because I still feel warm and safe. I don’t dear to open my eyes and pray that this feeling will last a little longer. As consciousness arise, I get surer of the fact that I’m not alone and the heat I’m feeling is an other person’s body heat. I lightly squeeze the hand I feel in mine and get a snoring sound as a replay. Now I’m sure I’m not alone and I open my eyes to a new day and I really don’t feel so bad about it as I thought I would. I slowly turn around from lying on one side to the other and get greeted by a mop of brown hair lying close to my hip. It’s Chris, sitting bent forward in the chair with his head in my bed. He stirs and yawns; my movements have disturbed him in his sleep so he’s waking up.

“Good morning sleepy head!” I laugh quietly to him and tousle his soft brown hair. He yawns some more and mumbles something down in the madras, before he fully sits up in the chair and rubs the sleep out of his eyes. “Oh, I fell a sleep, have you slept well?” he questions me and he looks so funny with his eyes round from surprise and his bed hair sticking up all over the place, that I burst out laughing. He also has a pressure mark from the sheet on his cheek. He looks like a little boy that has just gotten out of bed and not a full-blown man.

In the same moment the door to the room swings open and nurse Emma comes in with my breakfast tray. The expression on her face is priceless and made me laugh even harder. Because her face was pure shock of the scene she was taking in. I was clutching my stomach and trying not to roll out of bed. Even Chris joined me in the laugh when he saw Emma’s face.

She had stopped dead in her tracks like a frozen statue. She unfroze and opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out on her first try. We sobered up fast when she gave us her stern look. I dried my tears and scooped myself up sitting in the bed. While Chris stood up from the chair fixed his doctor coat and tried to get his hair to lie down by brushing his hand true it. “Good morning Mrs. Thomsen” Chris formally addresses her and give her a dazzling smile full of charm.

Emma shakes her head in disapproval “Good morning to you too Dr. Robertson and please save your charm for the young ladies it works on. It’s a waste on me!” Emma states before she comes beside my bed and put my breakfast tray on my nightstand. I’m trying my best not to smile as Chris makes funny faces to me behind Emma’s back. He certainly doesn’t make it easy for me not to start laughing again. He mouths to me “Call me later” and blows me a kiss, as he disappears out the door.

“So now that prince charming has left the room, what have you too been up to my dear?” Emma asks me and to my surprise she has a smile playing in the corner of her eye.

“Eh, nothing?” I try to state and I can hear the uncertainty in my own voice.

“You young folks today don’t know up from down anymore” she says and fixes my cover.

“Now you’re confusing me Emma what do you mean?” I wonder and frown my eyebrows together.

“Oh, dear put that expression away from your forehead, I mean you guys are definitively hitting it on as you young ones calls it today and you can’t even admit it. Why on earth should Dr. Robertson be sleeping in this chair if not something is going on between the two of you. He could have been home in his own bed getting a restful night of sleep.” She says and looks at me with her lips pursed together waiting for me to admit something I’m not quite sure of.

“Eh, he was working the nightshift and came in here to keep me company?” I end up halfway asking her.

“No, he had the day shift yesterday and he has a couple of days of now because he had to much overtime last week. You didn’t know?” She looks at me doubtfully like I should have known.

“No, I thought he was on work.” I answered her and before she could ask another embarrassing question I asked her what it was for breakfast and told her that I was hungry.

She then got to work and regulated the bed up to siting position and folded up the side on the nightstand so I got a table that would reach over my lap while I was sited comfy in the bed.

“It’s so nice to see you eating properly Sasha, enjoy your food and Dr. Holm should be her in less than an hour, I have other patients that need their breakfast too, but come and find me before you go home today, okay?” Emma asks and smiles down at me when I nod in agreement, because my mouth is already stuffed with food. I just can’t help myself when it comes to breakfast; I’m a breakfast person! So Emma departed the room and left me to devour my food alone.

Mom had been doing a good job in packing my overnight bag. After a quick shower, I changed into a pair of dark gray comfy, but cool pants, a coral blue fitted long sleeve t-shirt and a warm hoody with fuzzy inside that matched the pants and my blue converse. I put on some light makeup; I put on a thin line of eyeliner by using a delicate makeup brush coated in a no shimmer cobber colored eyeshadow, so it was just a hint of color, dark brown mascara and a light hint of blush on my pail winter cheeks. Then I brushed my tangled hair and found out I had nothing to put it up with so I left it loose and damped floating down my back. I felt like a new woman when I got out from the small bathroom.
