Chapter 1

Sitting at the bar stool in the kitchen hock at work, head in my hands and feeling like my head is ready to explode. Trying to concentrate on the smell of the warm cup of coffee in front of me on the table. All the sounds from the office disappear;

< I’m suddenly in a beautiful room, sitting on my knees in a big window post, my nose and palms pressed against the glass, eagerly looking for something and ready to run towards it when I see it. My body is filed with excitement and delight. >

Then my world comes scrambling down, my head explodes, the pain is terrifying, I hear someone taking in the distant, fare away, like the voices are muffled in cotton. But the panic in one of the voices makes me want to reach out and help, but I don’t know how, my head is killing me, my world turns black.

The blackness is fading; my name is being called,

“Sasha! Sasha! Can you hear me?” I manage to whimper in response. I start to cry, fresh tears are rolling down my chin. I’m slowly drifting back to reality, feeling exhausted and drained.

The smell is the first ting I registries, I know I’m at a hospital; the smell is not to be mistaken. It brings back challenging memories and my stomach twists in distress. But the voice that is calling my name and the gentle hand stroking on my forehead makes the fear less. Opening my eyes I see Peters face close up, his handsome face is a mask of worry. With a lot of effort I reach up and tuck his blond hair out of his eyes; it feels like silk in my hand.

“You’re back to us, how are you feeling?” He asks me as his facial expression softens and the mask of worry is replaced with a warm smile.

I rub my eyes and try to take away the traces of my tears

“Exhausted, what happened Pete? My head hurts!”

The worry in his grey eyes is back, but the comforting smile is still playing on his lips. “You fainted!”

I try to sit up, but Peter holds me down in the bed.

“Lay still Sasha, don’t try to sit up yet!” he demands.

“But I’ve got work to do, you know the meeting is in a couple of days!” I answer with a slice of panic in my still trembling voice.

“That’s so typical you, work is that all you worry about?” he chuckles without humor “You’ve been out cold for long and the doctors wants to do some tests on you and Edward also wants to see you before you’re allowed out off this bed.” He responds and hits the buzzer for the nurses.

                                Peter’s POV

Sasha looks so pail and fragile lying on the hospital bed. Her dark blond hair all over the pillow and make up smudged around her blue eyes. She looks like a panda bear, not that I’m going to tell her she looks funny. Good that I can see some humor in the situation. I thought I was loosing her. Now that she’s awake I feel I can relax a little. I hope she’s going to be okay. She scared the shit out of me at the office today. Screaming off the top of her lungs and fainting in my arms. Good thing I managed to catch her before she fell off the stool and hit the floor.

A nurse comes rushing in to the room. “Hi, is she awake?” she asks me,

“Yes, woke up just a minute ago” I answer her.

The nurse looks stern, but when she looks at Sasha a big smile brings out a soft glow to the mature and stern looking woman.

“Hi Sasha! Look at you! You look stunning! Long time since I’ve seen you, how are you doing dear?” She asks Sasha and gives her a hug.

“I’ve been doing good Emma, nice to see you too. Just wish I wasn’t in a hospital bed you know.” Sasha replay and hugs the woman back.

This must be one of the nurses that attended to Sasha last time she was hospitalist. I guess so because Sasha will never talk about that time in her life. “I’ve to get the attending doctor to look at you, and get a hold of your dear specialist Dr. Edward Holm. He told me to call him the second you woke up. But before I go and do that I’ll find you a washcloth so you can freshen up a little.” She says and hand Sasha the remote for the bed so she can get up in a siting position.

They acted like old friends and I felt a little left out, but it was also nice to be able to sit down and relax a bit in the chair because Sasha was definitively taken good care of by nurse Emma. I sent a text to Mom and Dad to let them know Sasha is awake. And what room we where in so they could find us when they arrived. I put my phone away and turn my attention back to the bed. Just in time for the nurse to address me.

“Oh, where are my manners, I’m just so happy to see Sasha again. And I think it’s wonderful that Sasha has a handsome man like you to look after her this time around. I’m the nurse in charge on this floor and my name is Mrs. Emma Thomsen. And you are?”

I could feel the blush creep up my chicks, and an awkward feeling of being judged by this strict woman in front of me. She made me feel like a teenager asking a girl out for the first time. “Nice to meet you Mrs. Thomsen. I’m Peter Harrington, Sasha brother.” I managed to get out and shake her hand.

“Nice to meet you too and now I’ll leave you two alone, while I go and notifies the doctors that our sleeping beauty is wake.” With that she disappears out the door in a rush.

“Did you think she was pretty? Big bro got a crush! Big bro got a crush.” Sasha sings in a teasing matter and laughs at me.

“ Shut up, she’s older then mom and way to stern for my liking.” I retort back and then just had to laugh with her because she made me justify myself over a grey haired old nurse.

The nurse arrived again with a young looking male in toe. “Hi, I’m back with doctor Robertson and Dr. Holm should be here in an hour my dear. Can you Mr. Harrington, please go and wait in the hall while we do a routine check up on your sister.” So I found my way out in the hallway and slumped down on a plastic chair.
