Chapter 6

                  Peter’s POV

When I checked on Sasha last night she was sleeping, so I let her sleep and got a ride home with Edward. Yesterday was a long day and the minute I got home I crawled into bed and slept like a baby. So I woke up early today and headed of to the office to get a head start on some of the work that was paling up.

I needed to call dads old assistant and ask if she was up for some work. She had retired after training Sasha to be an excellent assistant. She had also prepared me for my career in law by taking me under her wings and she had learned me a lot during the summers I had been working her while I was still a student.

Normally we would do fine without Sasha for some days, but now I felt that we needed all the help we could get. I was feeling like shit and we had a challenging case to work on and I felt the need of having an expert on organizing on-board. We still had the normal business contracts to set up, consulting on transactions meetings and as normal there are those unpleasant incident between two companies that don’t agree to the terms in their contracts, so we get the fun of making them agree on a settlement, because no one earns anything if it has to go to court. This time we are obviously hoping to make a good impression during these meetings so we can land a long-term deal with the companies in question as their business lawyers. One of the companies is a real estate developer and the other one of the companies is a mobile operator that is spread worldwide. That is the type of companies we like to work with because the work get challenging and we get to deal with international business contracts. One of dads’ longtime partners is taking care of the disagreement; he’s a really good talker and has a good way to deal with these types of issues. So he’ll manage without help from my dad or me. But I’ve several meetings today and have to go out of town tomorrow to consult one of our biggest clients.

The problem is that Mr. Ali Bashir and Mr. Aziz Bashir are arriving in the beginning of next week to get to meet the lawyer that is an expert on family court and we need to have official approved translation experts ready to verify that the faxes they have been translating are original copies from the court papers the Bashir’s are bringing with them from Oman. It’s actually a lot to organize and I don’t have the time and dad is a mess when it comes to organizing.

They are also bringing business contracts they want us to go over as well. Mr. Ali Bashir is currently working on a takeover of an American shipping company. So it’s not only the personal case on the agenda, but also contracts for the takeover. So next week we’ll have several meetings with them and since they are only here for a week we have to rearrange other appointments to make time for them. So we honestly need dad old assistant here with us.

I’ve only met Mr. Ali Bashir one time before, because a lot of the communication is by e-mail, faxes and phone calls. And he’s primary my dads client. He’s a short man, but he carries himself with an absolute authority that makes him take up a lot of space in a room. He dresses in tailor made suits and looks like the prototype of a fit mafia boss with his cigars tucked in his upper front pocket in his suit jacket. So I remember him well, he’s not the type to go unnoticed. His English is perfect, so if you only had heard him on the phone you would believe you were talking to an all American man.

I wonder what the son looks like, maybe a mini mafia boss, like a copy of his father. That would be so comical to see them both together if that’s the case.

I check the time and see it’s past eight in the morning so I’m guessing it’s okay to call dads old assistant Mrs. Gray and plead with here to come and work with us for a week or two. We’re so lucky, she was home and actually eager to come back to work, she said she was bored at home.
