3 DAYS LATER

------------------------------------

''Papa! Papa! A little girl yells in a happy tone''
I'm awakened to the sound of a girl shouting and blankets warmly covered over me. It pains me to open my eyes. It's just as bright as it were before I last was awake. Daylight? how could it be?

Looking around me I don't see the wide spread vast forest land. The sunlight's rays are still blinding. Gradually, everything becomes clear. I must of been taken in by some kind people.

Without notice the caliber of a twenty-two Winchester rifle pokes my aching rip cage. ''Papa! This ones still alive. What should we do about 'em?'' Judging by the tone, she couldn't have been a day over sixteen. But she knew how to handle a weapon as well as a soldier. The tip of the stock was aligned to my heart; kill shot. ''Now, now Jessie. He's still alive.''

Another is with the girl, I suppose they are father and daughter. ''What's your name son?'' The old white haired man stands by the door.

I try to say my name but I knew they didn't understand by their becoulded faces. All I could speak in was grunts and growls.
"I take it you're not such a morning person. Restrain him," says the old man.
The memories of being in the lab trapped and helpless cross my mind. I force my hand up to grab the gun but she was too quick and twisted her
shoulders swinging the butt of the gun in the direction of my head. A swift execution that lead me back to rest.

I'm starting to begin to wake up again. This time to the smell of freshly cooked breakfast.

''Thanks.'' I say. ''But I have a question.'' She looks at me ready to answer anything sweetly as possibly. so welcoming--

''Yes.'' She says.

''Why did you help me? And where is my team?'' I question her.

''Good morning sunshine,'' a man in hunters gear packing a few pounds says to me with his back turned cooking from the stove. ''Good morning,'' I reply.

''Have a seat boy,'' he orders. I don't hesitate to take a seat at his table. ''You're a fine man to do such a thing for me.'' They didn't have to save me but they did. And for that I am greatful.

He plants a plate of hot, steaming breakfast food in front of my face and pulls up a seat next to me. ''Eat,'' he tells me. I don't reject the offer. Then he slams a fork on the table and slides it over to me, then takes his hand of after placing it near the plate. I grab the fork and staying in eye-contact with him as he hawkeyed me. The fork I held in my right hand and a glass full of hand-made orange in the other.

The food wasn't something I could just undemine. I stabbed into the sausage and eggs like I haven't eaten for days. The savagry put a frankly scared look on the old man's wrinkly face. Then he looked at me hard and said, ''boy, what where you doing out in them woods that day ...''

My mouth was full. So I took a rather large gulp of the orange juice and finished it before I spoke. I looked down into the bottom of the glass and answered him.

''I don't know, sir. I just need to find my team. I am Captian. Walker of a special infantry squad. My men and I were-- I just need to find them, now. Before something happens to them.''

''Is everything okay daddy?'' Her footsteps were soundless. ''Go back up stiars honey. This ain't none of your concern.'' The more he spoke, the more annoying his Mississipi accent was. ''Okay papa.'' Then she ran back upstairs after giving me another glance. When she left he continued to interview me, and I told him everything that had happened. Almost everything. If I would of left out the part about the experiments, he would have thought I was some kind of escapee and would called the police on me. ''We hear a lot of strange things around these parts Mr. Walker, but this is the craziest thing I've heard so far. I knew them insane hoo-ha scientist with them fancy lab suits were doing something.''

''What were you doing near a military site Mr.-''

He started explaining to me why he and his young daughter were around those parts of the woods, and ignored giving me his name. ''It's some of the finest hunting ground around. You'll never catch nothing better. Once I saw a white deer!'' He got excited when he said that. ''But it's dangerous hunting around them parts. Illegal in fact. It's a good thing I found you though. Anyone one could get lost for days, if they don't know how to survive in those woods.'' He put his red cap on with a light brown deer in the front of it.
