This was the first time gene had dinner at home and with a guy, let alone another person.

It was very awkward but since Jade wasn't showing whether he was awkward or not, gene refrained from doing so as well as he picked at the pork dumpling soup Jade had ordered. What made the current situation even more awkward was that Jade seemed to be more chatty than usual.

In fact, he spoke without pausing to truly enjoy the meal laid out before him.

If gene had of known he was this much of a talker earlier, he wouldn't have taken up the offer to eat dinner together even if it was free.

Now gene could only sigh regrettably in his heart, picking at the dishes that tasted blander than usual.

"Do you have anyone you're seeing at the moment?" Jade randomly asked, but gene wasn't surprised as all his questions so far came in this sort of fashion.

Earlier Jade even dared to ask if gene was strictly a top or bottom. The audacity of that question almost made gene choke and die when remembering the night just gone.

"No."

And gene found that the best way to nip a question he didn't want to answer in the bud before it grew complicated was by keeping his answers short. So far it was working like a charm.

But due to Jade dominating the conservations so far, gene had no chance to ask questions of his own, which in turn was frustrating him to no end. He slowly started to harbour a suspicion over whether jade was purposely doing this, causing even more regret to rise in his chest.

"Oh...so that kid yesterday was only a fling?" Jade said casually, his eyes lightly gauging genes reaction. Whatever he saw made a small smile lift the corner of his lips.

As for gene; he bit his tongue to keep himself from spitting out the soup he had just drank. He then flicked jade a dark look and raised a napkin to gently wipe the edges of his mouth.

"How do you know about that?" Gene asked suspiciously, keeping his eyes pinned to the other man.

Jade shrugged nonchalantly, looking down and picking at the array of dishes laid out in front of him. "I bumped into the kid leaving this morning."

Gene didn't like where this conversation seemed to be heading. It was making him feel like he had done something wrong.

So to divert from that feelong, he asked, "You came back in the morning and left again?"

Jade raised his eyes again and grinned at gene across the counter. He said with a teasing glint in his eyes, "Did you miss me?"

Gene scoffed. "What's there to miss! I was just wondering what was the point of returning at all."

"What's there to miss?" Jade repeated to himself before laughing as if he heard the funniest thing in the world, having overlooked the latter words or simply ignored them.

Gene stared dubiously at the other man but kept his mouth shut and in a thin line.

After sobering, Jade wiped his own mouth with a napkin and said. "Since you are an Idol now, it's best if you keep private matters like that on the low. You wouldn't want to damage your reputation more than it already is."

When gene still made no effort to reply, a devious smile suddenly lit up jade's handsome face and his jade-like hand shot across the counter so fast that by the time gene had noticed it - it was already too late.

"What are you doing?"

Gene glared at the man sitting across from him, his mood souring as he watched the food that was stolen from his bowl being put into Jade's mouth.
