(unedited)

It was a little past midnight...

"So what is it you want to know?"

The young man had calmed down enough to ask Gene this. He had put his clothes that he had left in the bathroom back on and hung the robe back in Gene's closet. While he was doing all this, Gene had switched on some lights and started brewing ground coffee. He was glad to find Cia at least stocked up on plenty of coffee, but at the same time, a little unsettled by how much he had stocked up on.

Gene slid a cup of coffee in front of the other man and settled down at the counter with his own. He could feel the young man watch his every move as if his eyes were permanently attached to his body. Gene didn't know how to feel about that, so he chose not to acknowledge it. He had enough to deal with as it is.

"A name perhaps?" suggested Gene. He took a sip of his coffee and cherished the taste. He didn't know if drinking coffee like this, black and strong, was any good for his new heart but like hell he'll give up on this indulgence. It was like telling a man to stop smoking when he has been doing it for ten years...you'll have to lock him down for that to work. He was a coffee addict then, he is a coffee addict now - weak heart or not.

"Ian Vizan. A 19-year-old university student who lives with his sister. I like dolphins, sunset walks on the beach and watching Netflix while eating Maltesers...That pretty much sums up my life perfectly." The man added. "Oh, and I like men."

Gene snorted. "What happened to the sobbing kid?"

"Oh him? He went down with the stiff I had."

Gene chose not to comment and took another sip of his coffee. He had already figured out Ian's type - the more you got to know him, the more you'll question your morality. He had met this type more than he would like to remember. Gene knew he had to be blunt if he wanted any answers from this boy but he was doubting whether his decision to use this man for answers was a good idea or not. Maybe it would have been better to ask Sofia or that blading manager of his...

"Do you really not remember anything?" Ian suddenly brought his head around to look gene in the eyes. He was so close that Gene could smell the coffee on his breath and also a hint of something else...mint? What a weird combination.

"I really don't. I couldn't even remember my name after the incident." Gene was naturally a straight-faced liar. One had to be in his line of business or how else would he have gotten where he was? Of course, that was in his past now and nothing he was immensely proud of - it was what brought about his personal misery.

Gene swallowed his dark thoughts and added, "How about the relationship between you and...I?"

Gene held his suspicions but he wanted to hear the truth before he made any solid conclusion.

Ian shrugged and sat back in his seat. "Nothing more than acquaintances."

"Does an acquaintance straddle another man's lap and get hard from it?"

Ian smirked, his shoulders shaking with the attempt to hold back a laugh. "Don't they? Unless you were expecting us to be lovers?"

Gene thought he could hear an underlying meaning in Ian's voice but when he stared at the man, he was met only by a smile. Maybe he misheard?

This kid is like a Tragedy mask - one minute he is happy, the next he is sad. Gene sighed in his heart and turned away.

Playing it safe, Gene switched topics again. "How about you tell me about him?"

"Oh?" Ian swirled his drink in his cup before bringing it up to his mouth and taking a huge gulp. Gene could see from the side that he had hit on something because Ian looked suddenly serious. It made Gene even more curious by this other man and their relationship, not to mention uncomfortable. Is he Cia's real lover? Or another acquaintance?
