Chapter 11

Ashton lead me into the front doors of the restaurant and I could tell it was classy. The door handle was painted a pretty gold color and the doors were all mirrors. I was surprised that there were a lot of teens and people our age in there. Maybe it was a classy place for our teens, I wish they had that in Ohio. We go up to the little podium where the person was who told us where to sit is, then did his job. When we arrived at our table there was a white square table cloth covering the whole table with a single candle in the middle. The menu had a whole variety of foods, seriously. It went from kid chicken strips to lobster caught here in Florida.

"I'm paying so get whatever you want." He said. I didn't want to spend all of his money, I would feel bad. Plus what if the cheeseburgers are like 16 dollars with fries that cost 7. I look and the burgers were only 7 dollars that come with two sides for free. Well, I was wrong. A person comes with the drinks we ordered, I got a Shirley Temple and Ashton got a Cherry Coke. She said that she will come back to get our orders in a bit, so I sat there and waited for Ashton to start a conversation.

"So." He says, looking somewhat bored.

"Why don't you tell me about your band." I tell him. I think that is what lit this because he wont stop talking about it. He is talking about how he doesn't really get solos because he is the drummer. Ashton also added in what the other boys do in the band. Michael, Calum, and Luke do mainly the same thing, which is singing. They play guitar a lot though. He also told me that they have about 500k followers on twitter each and that they are somewhat big. The band also has a website where you can buy t shirts and hats, things like that. Also, they used to play a lot in Australia. But 2 years ago they moved to Ohio to spend some time with their other mom. The whole band thought that they should travel together, so they could still write music. The four boys were very close too, he said they were closer with each other than their own families. Luke kind of had family problems because he would get in trouble non stop when he was in Australia and he did in Ohio too.

"So what brought you guys to Florida?" I ask.

"Well, we wanted to go some place that was close to the beach with a nice college. So we ended up here. We all got in luckily, Luke was on the edge but he had good grades and music looked good on his application. Somehow they let him in." That makes me think how me and Beth were pretty smart at school. Not the best but good, and I played softball my whole four years, then started journalism my sophomore year. The writing program here was good but not as good as NYU. Plus New York was to much city for me. I'm not that good with people anyways but high school made it a little better.

"Oh really! That would have been horrible if he didn't get in with you guys." I say.

"Well, he said he didn't really want to go to college anyways but since all of us wanted to we knew he would tag along, we wouldn't just leave him." I couldn't even describe his voice right then, it was sort of sad like.

"So I'm guessing your going to try to get into a big career with your band?" I ask and he grins at me.

"Enough with me, lets hear about you. What are you doing here." When he asked that I can feel my hand shaking and sweat building up on the back of my neck. What if he didn't like writers. This could ruin everything.

"Erm.. The um Literature program.." I saw quietly.

"You have to speak up babe." He smiles at me again.

"I'm trying to become a big author. Like Stephanie Meyer, or John Green." I can feel my hand shaking on my lap, I cant control it anymore. The droplets on my neck are slowly sliding down as the corners of my forehead are doing the same.

"Do you have any stories?" He asks. I am glad he didn't say something like writing was dumb or that he supposes I'm really smart.

"Well I started writing one but it is taking some time. I think I am going to start another instead." He looks at me with a happy stare.
