A/N: Okay, I know that this is super short, but it's a chapter. Nothing I can really do about it. Okay, not true. I could force myself to make the chapter longer, but that wouldn't fell right. So... this is the length of the chapter. No questions. No Complaining. No nothing. Well, naturally you can complain about other things and all. And feel free to complement it as well. But generally, just tell me what you think. Thanks.

Chapter 20:

“Okay, what is it this time?” Mate asked as he cam up to me. I'd gone a little away to sulk a bit, but instead I'd fallen asleep. Mate must have come back from the hunt – a successful one as I head wolves gnawing at meat – because he now was telling me to go get the first pick, as was my right as pregnant alpha.

“No, Mate. It's Brother.”

I sensed him tense, but only just.

“What about him?”

“He's found his partner.”

“Well, that's good for him. He can leave.”

“I would say that too, but his partner is younger than me. And in no condition to live on her own yet.”

'Oh,' was written in Mate's stance.

“Which one?” That he meant for me to see and react to. I could tell from the way he pronounced it.

“Earth-Maple.”

“Yeah, she's young. Go get your food, Doe.”

I left him there to his thoughts which I sometimes wished I could access. I knew he hid nothing from me, but sometimes I had this need to know what he was thinking. The thing with wolves is they often say with their body what they're thinking. But not Mate. He had an enact way of not showing what he didn't want to show. All I could see was that he was thinking about how get around it. They could mate now, and they would also be alphas. That would mean to sets of families on one territory. Two sets of alpha, and a pack that didn't really belong to anyone. Okay, they belonged to us, but because they weren't our children meant they could be claimed by others. And Mate and I have yet to claim the land, both officially and unofficially. That had to be done. But who cares? I wanted to move the pack away from here anyway. But it was a good idea to have a certain territory at leas during my pregnancy. Then raise the cubs a bit and move. That was the plan. So after I eat, Mate and I will go all along the peripheral of our territory and mark it. Then we'll officially claim both the pack and the territory.

But for now... Food.
