Never Until You

I never believed in sappy love poems,

In the bleeding hearts and sleepless nights as they say.

Until I woke up at 3 am.

The blood dripping from my chest called out your name.

I never believed in love-at-first-sight,

In the I-never-know-what-to-say-because-I'm-shy.

Until I stood before you with trembling legs.

You squeezed the words from my throat with a smile.

I never believed in romantic walks in the park,

In getting caught in the rain, in a kiss under the moonlight.

Until I stood under your umbrella because I forgot mine,

My lips wetter than the soggy grass underfoot with your love.

I never believed in true love with you,

In a happily forever after, in growing old together.

Until I realized that life's a waste of time without you.

Our silhouette is branded in the moon forever.
