I stared at him blankly as Liu shook his head and muttered a sarcastic reply. He gave me a smile and said, "You're probably tired. You should go to bed. And don't worry, I'll get the pizza for you." I wanted to deny it but he could be right. The cops maybe were talking about the case or pretending or something. It's probably all in my head and... and... Oh what the hell, I heard it all loud and clear. I know I am not crazy and if he won't believe me then probably Roy and Hunter will believe me. "After all that happened today, you are saying you believe nothing that is coming out of my mouth?" My question came out more of a statement. Liu tried forming a proper sentence but it was just filled 'uh's, 'well's, and random letters. "Okay okay I believe you but are you absolutely sure?" He made it sound like he's talking to a five year old. I gave him a nod and got off from my position on the bed and picked my phone up that mysteriously was on the floor. Probably fell off. I opened it up and searched through my contact list until I found Roy's number. I pressed on it and waited for him to pick up. After the third ring he picked up. "Hey Cynth, what's up?" I looked at the bedroom door before saying, "Is Hunter next to you?"
"Uh yeah. We're on our way back home, why?" And there I went, explaining everything. Roy stayed silent and I am sure I was on speaker so Hunter heard it all too. After I was done, I heard a bang and a 'Told you so!'. "Uh.." They were talking but about what I don't know. "Look sweetie make sure they stay in the house when we get there. Those two aren't the ones who volunteered to stay with you. Hell they aren't even actual cops!" I mind rushed in possibility them being killers like Jeff and EJ and it scared me to no end. "Okay okay, I'll do what I can. Bye." Just as I ended the call, Natalie's voice rang from downstairs. "Kids, we're leaving! Nice knowing ya!" Liu and I gave each other worried grins before rushing downstairs. Oh yeah, he was listening to my conversation. When we reached downstairs, they were in the door frame with the door wide open. Now let's play my magic. "Please don't leave so soon. I ordered pizza for us and was hoping we could watch a movie right after I finished my homework." Sally gave me a curious glance. "I don't know, kid, it's almost time to leave. Your... parents are coming." God I'm still not used to calling them that. It makes me cringe a bit. I have no clue why. "So let's make the best of what we have left." A gleaming object caught my again and I looked past Sally and to the forest to see a glaring Jeff. It's funny with the cut smile on his face. He was't wearing his hoodie. This time his hoodie was wrapped around his hips.
"Sorry kid, maybe next time. Bye." Crap, crap, crap. I am running out of excuses. I watched their retreating figures as they walked away. I forgot Liu was next to me so when I saw him quietly run down the porch stairs with a metal baseball bat, I jumped. He lifted it up over Sally and Natalie's head and before he brought it down, Jeff ran out of the tree line and yelled out, "Behind you!" It was too late though. Liu brought the bat down just right before they were able to spin around. They both fell to the floor unconscious. Jeff growled as he came running down to us, knife in hand. Liu tightened his grip on the bat. However, before Jeff was able to cross the road, headlights from a car blinded all of us and a loud crash followed. When my eyes adjusted, I saw Roy and Hunter get out and start shooting at a Jeff that got off the road and run back to the woods. I didn't know what happened next but next thing I knew was that I was chasing Jeff inside the woods. Shouts were being heard, calling out my name, but I had to know where he hides. At first, I didn't hear the slight static in my ears or feel the weak headache but when I did, I stopped. And boom! It hit me all harder and faster. The static didn't stop and headache never ceased. Something is here and it hates me in its territory. I tried searching for the whereabouts of my brother but I came empty handed. Jeff was already long gone so I decided to run back home. I shouldn't have stopped even with the pain.
Each step I took weakened my pain and the static lowered in volume. It wasn't hard to figure out this... entity of sorts was leading me back to the tree line and back home. I didn't even realize how far I had gotten inside and how thick and dense it was when I stopped chasing Jeff. I just saw all this when I actually observed everything around me. As I jogged back, I met Roy looking in the forest for me. His phone had his flashlight on and a worried look on his face. He was calling my name out. When our eyes met, he sighed in relief and relaxation for two seconds before they hardened. "Are you crazy?! Following a goddamn killer into a FOREST?! Especially one with rumors going on about some creature being in here?! ARE YOU THAT DUMB?!" He. did. NOT! "Excuse me?!" I yelled in anger, "I at least am committed to catching my parents' killer and send him to bloody justice. I am finding out a lot of information way too quickly and it's not helping! I am the school and town gossip, I am being slowly hated on by everyone for something that f**king traitor did and I am to be expected to stay strong through it all! I don't want to play cat and mouse with anyone right now, especially Jeff! I hate it when he has eyes on me twenty-four seven, I hate all the drama that is happening, I hate the fact I am the victim here, and I hate Randy and Kieth and Troy most! I would actually be living a happy life right now if it wasn't for them! And you know what? I bloody hate him and you too!"
I didn't care at what else Roy had to say anymore. I just walked away with tears in my eyes and my body all tense. Liu tried to hug me as I walked home but I just shoved him away, hard. He stumbled back and tripped before falling as I went inside not even looking back. Natalie and Sally were gone and the Tesla was missing too. I slammed the front door behind me and rushed up to my room. I closed and locked the door before walking blindly walking to and sitting on my bed. I laid back and put my hands above my head. A smooth object clanked under my left hand and I sat up to see my guitar. A neon bright yellow sticky note was put on there. It was easily noticeable against black color on my guitar. I peeled it off and read the words sloppily written on it.
