Cleaning herself off as she emerged from the shower, Quinn moved her way onto the tile floor as she swung her hair in front of her to give it a quick pat down. Throwing the towel into the hamper in the hall, she emerged in the living area to find Hudson standing with a raised brow. Almost as quickly as she saw him, he turned his back and tried to conceal his smirk. Clearing his throat as she darted into the next room to change, his voice echoed through the pool house.
"I should have knocked, I apologize. I just wanted to let you know that you have the day off."
"What for?"
"Well Olivia woke up with the flu last night and Roderick says he isn't feeling well...so I will watch over them-"
"It is my job to be their Nanny, Hudson- Mr. Olvier."
"Hudson is fine." He said as he ran his hand on the back of his neck. Turning back around as he heard her emerge, he saw how her cheeks had become a bright red color. "I commend you for wanting to brave the flu...but it is pretty bad...take the day off...go enjoy yourself."
"I really don't mind helping out."
"Fine, I'll tell you what. You go and get some medicine, chicken broth, and ginger ale for them at the store and I will stay back with them. Is that alright?"
She nodded after she put her hair in a pony tail. He walked her to her car and opened the door for her as he gave her a smile. A permanent smirk seemed to be etched on his face since he saw her indecent and for a moment, their gazes met.
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaad!" A moan followed the summon as he pointed after remarking 'duty calls', and heading towards the house.
Walking through the store, she found David to be shopping in the soda aisle and tried to avoid him, but it had been too late. Calling her name half way through the store as she ignored him, he eventually grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him.
"Hey, you haven't returned any of my calls."
"Yep." She tried to continue on, but once again was pulled back.
"Come on, there is so much history between us. You can't just walk away from something like that."
"Watch me." She said sternly. As she began to walk, he called after her. "You are nothing but a good-lay anyway, and even that's only that one time! Pathetic! That's all you are! Can't even afford school!"
She stood in the aisle for several minutes, keeping he composure before going to pay for the contents in her cart and making her way back to the house. Placing them on the counter, she saw Hudson come down the steps with a smirk. She gave one in return but he saw her facade directly.
"Is everything alright? Did something happen?"
"No. I..I just...am not feeling very well either..."
"Oh...well...why don't you go and rest-" Their eyes caught once more, only now, with no words spoken between them. The kids were upstairs asleep and Rochelle was nowhere to be found. They were completely alone with nothing but opportunity. But as he looked in her eye, he saw that there had been something sad deep in her soul.
"Is it about what happened earlier? For what it's worth-I didn't see anything...I-"
"It's not. That was just...bad timing..." She blushed, reliving the moment in her mind. "It is...it's the fact that...Never mind...I just think I need to go lay down for a bit-"
"Why don't we have a drink? You can talk about whatever is on your mind and I won't judge you a bit, I promise."
"I shouldn't-I'm still working-"
"You are off today, remember."
She nodded, unable to fight against him. The kindness in his eyes made her feel a level of comfort that she had never experienced before.
Quinn then explained her entire dramatic saga of her relationship with David. How they were each other's first pretty much everything. When they were in their Junior year, he cheated on her up until his Freshman year of college-they tried to work past it, but she never forgave him. She then got into deeper issues.
"It's just like with my dad, everyone saw him as this...philanthropist who was charitable and selfless...but...he was the most cruel and selfish man I had ever known." lifting up her hand, she showed the scar that was the length from her thumb to her middle finger. "This was from a piece of broken glass he tried to hit me with. I know this is awful to say....but I'm relieved he is gone."
"I had no idea. I only met him once...and he was so distant and cold even to me. I'm sorry, Quinn. I had no idea he was-"
Realizing how open she had been, she became quickly embarrassed and immediately made an excuse to leave. She found each moment spent with Hudson, she was falling more and more in love with him.
