Taylor's POV

"I'm sorry," Jade stopped me mid sentence. "What?"

"Jade Levin! Are you even listening to a word I say?" I groaned in frustration.

"Taylor Scott! You're not exactly easy to understand when you ramble." She stated.

"My point is," I said lowering my voice. "I'm fucking pissed."

I could head her chuckle over the phone.

"What?" I said innocently "He didn't show. I swear when I see this Cayden boy, I'm gonna flip shit."

"You said he's a junior?" Jade asked.

"Yeah." I closed my textbook and dropped it in my bag that was perched up on the floor next to my bed. "Why?"

"I just think it's kinda crazy for a sophomore to be tutoring a junior, don't you think?" She inquired.

"I never really thought about it, to be honest, I'm just in it for the extra credit." I said finish off my homework, when a knock sounded at the door.
Mop
"Honey, dinner's ready!" My mother yelled from behind the door.

"I'll be down in a minute!" I said holding the phone away from my face. "Hello?" I spoke into the phone.

"Yeah." Jade responded.

"I gotta go. See you tomorrow." I said.

"Yup, bye." She hung up.

I got up and tossed my phone onto the bed and headed downstairs. The aroma of my moms pot roast hit me hard and almost knocked me to the ground. I felt my stomach growl as though it was eating away at itself.

"Damn." I said under my breath, soft enough so only I can hear.

I took a seat at the table where my dad already was. Mom brought in her mouth watering seasoned to perfection pot roast. I licked my lips. We said grace and began to dig in.

"So," my dad said finally breaking the comfortable silence. "How's school?"

"It's great." I replied covering my mouth, which was full of food.

"Care to tell us why you came home at such an unusual time?" He asked reaching for the glass of water by his right hand.

"Mr. Fletcher thought it would be a good idea if I tutored one of his students," I told them honestly. "and if things go well, I get extra credit."

"Wow, impressive." My dad nodded his head in approval.

"Honey," my mom said.

"Yeah?" I replied as I continued to consume the last morsel of food left on my plate.

"It's your turn to do the dishes." She said reminding me.

I groaned. As soon as we were done eating, I collected all the plates and and utensils, and began to wash away. And as soon as I finished I went back up to my room and took a shower.

I let the water run over my body for a few minutes before getting soapy and washing it off. As soon as I got out of the shower, I rushed my teeth and made my way to bed.

I got under the covers and it didn't take long for me to fall asleep.

Cayden's POV

I woke up to sound of my parents bickering. I covered my head with the pillow, but that seemed to do nothing, so I got up and got ready.

I put on a long white t shirt and some gray joggers and white vans. I threw on a flannel ,grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.

"I don't know Erik!" My mom yelled.

My dad ran a hand through his dark brown hair.

"I can't do it alone." She said breaking down. She turned away from him and placed both of her hands on the table in the hallway where they were currently standing.

My dad gave her a hug.

"I know." He said comforting her.

"I'm worried that if we can't act like adults and put this behind us as soon as possible, then it gonna affect him more than it is now." She said in distress. She pulled away from him. "Just sign the papers Erik. If not for me, then do it for our son."

"Okay Sara." He said simply.

I was angry. I made my presents know.

"How long have you been standing there?" My mom said pushing away from my dad and wiping away her tears as if she wasn't just crying.

"Long enough to know you truly don't know what's best for me." I said as I ran the rest of the way down the stairs and grabbed my keys. I needed to leave. Fast.

I heard my dad call after me but I didn't care. I've had enough of their bullshit. I jammed my keys into the ignition and pulled out of the driveway.

As I pulled into the school parking lot, Matt came into view. I put my car into park and turned it off.

Opening my door, I stepped out taking my things. I closed the door and locked it behind me.

"Hey loser!" Matt said shoving me against the side of my car.

"Matt, you fucking idiot!" I laughed.

"We were supposed to meet up yesterday last period." He said. "Where did you go?"

"I left school early." I said look at him.

"And they just let you?" He asked incredulously.

"Nah." I said as a smirk formed on my lips.

"What happened?" He asked with a suddenly interest.

"I got called down to the office and Mr. O'Neal told me a bunch of bullshit and I wasn't having it. I cursed him out and left." I said plainly.

Matt's eyebrows shot to the top of his hairline. "Did you actually?"

"I did." I said feeling proud of myself.

"Then I got high as fuck at the park, went home and got scolded some more." I said as we made our way to the entrance of school.

"Duuuuude." He said in disbelief.

Not paying attention, I pulled open the doors to the entrance of the school. There, stood a livid Mr. O'Neal.

In my office now." He's said through clenched teeth.

"The way things went down yesterday, I can get you suspend, just like that." He said with the snap of his fingers. "However, I'm not going to do that."

My mother let out the breath she seemed to be holding. "Thank you Mr. O'Neal."

My father began to speak. "How can we help you if you don't bother making an effort to help yourself?"

"Before we go any further let's look at the options." Mr. O'Neal said as looked from my mom to my dad and then back at my mother lingering on her chest for a few seconds.

I scoffed.

"Might I ask what you find so funny Mr. Kessler?" He asked as he met my eyes.

"It's nothing, really." I said striking back.

He cleared his throat and continued on. "He's failing all of his classes. His teachers have all come together and decides that the way to go, is for him to have a tutor. Luckily, I found an incredibly generous, talented and smart student who's willing to help."

"Perfect." My dad said.
