Taylor's POV
I pushed through the crowd of dancing bodies, all the way to the front door. Cayden raced through the path I'd created. I opened the front door, and sure enough he was right behind me. 'How stupid was I to believe that someone like him was capable of being with one person at a time?' I thought. I wiped away the tears I allowed to escaped. If there was one thing I would have control over tonight, it would be Cayden not witnessing the kind of power he has over me.
"Taylor, wait." He said. I kept walking... and so did he. I wound up at the passenger door, grabbed the handle and gave it a gentle tug. Still facing the car door, I sighed and tilted my head up. "Unlock the door."
"If you'd just let me explain." He said.
I didn't realize the little space between us until I turned around. Standing in the same spot, I looked him in the eyes. "Why?" I began. "What does it matter?" I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I know how it looks, but she came onto me." He said gesturing toward the house, and then himself.
"You were on top of her, Cayden."
"I chose to take you with me for a reason. Not Quinn." He said with pleading eyes.
"Okay," I started "then tell me something. Did you chose to kiss her back?"
"I..." Just the answer I didn't wanna hear.
"That's what I thought." Slightly nodding my head I slowly turned toward the car door.
Cayden's body relaxed, and he let out a sigh. "Okay." He unlocked the car door with the click of his key. He backed away to give me room to get into the car.
I wasted no time in opening the door and getting in. I watched as he walked in front of the car to get to the drivers side. The door opened, and closed after he got in. The car started up in silence and we took off.
"Hello." I said. My arms were still crossed in the same position. "You realize you're going in the wrong direction, right?" So revealed as I came to the realization myself.
"I'm aware." He said. Cayden kept his eyes on the road, to avoid making contact with mine.
"Home is that way, incase forgot." I pointed in the direction we came from.
"Yeah, well if you still want me to take you home, we need gas to make the trip." His tone was bored, as if he wasn't up for arguing with me.
I let out a huff of air and resumed my position sitting toward the window.
We got to the gas station. Cayden pulled up to pump and got out of the car. I wanted as he ran a hand though his hair. Just then my phone pinged in my pocket.
Maybe Zach: Hey, it's Zach from the party. I got your number from a friend. Hope you don't mind ;).
Me: Oh hey.
Maybe Zach: I just wanted to say you looked pretty freakin sexy tonight.
Wow. Thirsty much? I thought.
Me: Lol, yeah thanks. So was the girl on your arm.Maybe Zach: Oh you mean Bryn? She's just a friend.
Me: From where I was standing, you two looked like more than that...
Maybe Zach: Don't believe everything you see...
Maybe Zach: Would you maybe want to come out with me sometime? Do something fun?
"Fuck." I breathed. Where's your best friend when you need her?
Me: Haha, I'll think about it...
