Gabi's POV

I sighed as I settled on the front stoop to watch Johann and Mia entertain themselves with their football in the front yard. The twins were almost five years old now, and they could handle the normal-sized ball with ease. When they came charging down the stairs excitedly to tug at my pants and ask for permission to go outside and play, I just couldn't reject their pouty lips and pleading eyes.

The late afternoon sun shone warmly on their chubby faces and their gleeful squeals and giggles travelled with the gentle breeze; you'd almost think they were enjoying themselves thoroughly and not actually getting soaked with sweat. Johann was having the time of his life playing goalkeeper again, while Mia was equally satisfied with sending shot after shot in his direction with her feet. The ball was lobbed between the both of them continuously, Johann using his hands and Mia using her feet.

A while later, Toni returned from training, and he almost fell over backwards when the twins ambushed him as he got out of the car – pouncing on him, climbing up his legs, and grabbing any part of his shirt they could get their hands on.

"Okay, okay," he laughed after Johann and Mia's loud synchronised yelling of 'DADA,' squatting down and gently tugging at their grabby hands so they'd let go of him. "Hi, you two."

"We missed you," Mia sang, and he laughed again.

"Missed you too, princess."

She giggled, and Johann picked up the ball and held it out to Toni. "Dada wanna play ball?" he asked.

"I spent my whole afternoon playing ball, baby. I'll go take a shower and then you can tell me all about your day, okay?"

"KAY!" they screamed in unison as Toni kissed their sweaty foreheads, before they got distracted yet again by their ball, leaving Toni to walk towards me with a huge smile on his face.

"Hey, baby," I whispered as he leaned over, this time to give me a long sweet kiss on the lips. "How was your day?"

"Fine, thank you," he pulled away after giving me another kiss on my head. "How was yours?"

"Mine, too," I stood up and pulled him along. "Come on, I'll make you a milkshake."

After telling the twins to be good, Toni went upstairs for a shower while I prepared his milkshake. His wet face and lips startled me as he buried them in the crook of my neck when he popped up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

I turned around to see that his hair, also damp, was all over the place. I attempted to comb it with my fingers, but I only succeeded in messing it up further when Toni planted his lips on mine again. "I love you," he whispered.

I couldn't help but smile. "I love you too, baby."

He pulled away to smile at me before his hands moved down to my hips and he dove in again – only to have me completely read through his actions and interrupt him by holding up the milkshake and shoving the straw into his mouth. "No boobies, this milk is enough."

He pouted as he took the glass, but he couldn't stop that pout from turning into a loving smile as he kissed me on the nose. "Where are the twins?" he asked as he drank his milkshake happily.

"Still outside," I said, and he gave a little chuckle before gulping down half of the milkshake and leaving the rest on the table. He left to find them, so I turned back around to clean up the kitchen.

Suddenly, there was loud yelling from the front, before a brief period of silence followed by another shout. It took me a moment to realise that it was Toni's voice. I rushed out of the kitchen and into the living room, frantic about what he was shouting about and if anyone was hurt, only to see the front door suddenly being whipped open and the twins standing there, looking shaken and a little confused. Toni stood behind them with a thunderous look on his face as he nudged them across the threshold.
