What is the best news you have ever heard in your entire life?
For Paris, it was when her family told her that she is already engage for real. Take note on the sarcasm. She was waiting for them to take back what they said. She also searched in their faces any hint of joke but she found none.
"You're joking aren't you?" Paris nervously laughed at them. "You are pulling pranks on me again."
There was no joke on what they said. Their faces were serious and they were looking as if they were waiting for her to absorb what they had announced.
"Paris, we are not joking, my dear," her grandma cited. Paris looked over her dad and mom as well as her grandfather who were nodding at her.
If she was still dreaming, let her be awake. This is completely a nightmare for her and she does not like it. She waited for few seconds, again, giving them chance to reclaim it. But no! She squalled at them, stood up and pace front at back.
"If this is not a joke or whatever prank this is, when did this happen?" Paris stop from her pace and faced them with crossed arms.
"Oh, when? Just yesterday," her grandmother calmly replied.
"Yesterday? What the f-" she almost blurted it out but was stop by the glares given by her family. "Why didn't you tell me at once?"
"We were about to tell you last night but we do not want to cut your date off with Marco."
"It was not a date," she sissed at them. "How did this happen? And why did you let it happen?"
"We had already planned it way back before our business had expanded and it is already final that you will be marrying the son of Edgar Samuels," her father uttered with authority.
Paris could not believe it! She did not know what to feel. She could not even think about it! And then it happened yesterday. Fiddlesticks! Yesterday was her presentation and she did meet this Mr. Samuels. Was that the reason why he attended the meeting and met her personally? Paris is one hundred percent miffed at her parents.
"Is that why you introduce me to him, huh father? And you had decided about it without my permission?" Her voice had risen. She was furious. It is the rest of her life they are talking about. Yet she felt like she is just like one of their estates being sold.
"I am your father Paris and I know what is good for you." Her father sternly answered.
"Yeah right, just like the estates you are selling." She rolled her eyes at them. "I refuse to marry the man you are talking about."
"You will still have enough time to meet him and get to know him, my dear." Her grandfather defended.
Paris did not heed on what they are talking. She also would not consider their decisions. How could they not ask her about it? It was just an easy task. Now she is indeed mad!
"Have you not considered what I would feel?" she asked. "You know that I have so many dreams in life and this engagement will just ruin it."
"We are not ruining you Paris!" Her grandmother began to cry. This is not good. "We care for you; you are not growing young and we as well but think of your future."
Paris sneered at this. "By deciding ahead on me? Well thanks a lot."
Paris heard her grandmother sniff as if crying. She never wanted to see them sad, but it is her happiness that is concern. Did she deserve this? To think that her engagement and her marriage would be the happiest days in her life. She needed time to think but darn it, she even could not formulate a thought.
