A Twist of Fate (Kamigami No Asobi)

Chapter 1

It's midnight and the only light around me is the moonlight up in the sky as rain continues to drip down on the Earth. Why would I be out here so late while it's pouring you ask? Because I'm trying to escape my foster parents and the life they've chosen for me. My name is Susaki Neku. My birth parents died when I was three years old and I've been living with the Maito's ever since. Since I first arrived in the Maito's household they've treated me rather cruelly. Everything I did was wrong and they always told me that I'd never amount to anything, but that's not the reason why I'm running away. You see the Maito's use to be very wealthy but their wealth is fading so they decided it was time for me to marry Japan's wealthiest man's son, Sakume Ashita.

I tried to tell them that I can't marry him because I don't love him but of course, they didn't care, they only want more money. That leads me to where I am now. As I'm running the rain seems to keep getting worse. I decide to take a break after I find the nearest shelter. It was about ten minutes before I saw an old abandoned church building. I entered the church without any hesitation and twisted my long silver hair to get all the water out. My clothes were so drenched it was becoming hard to move. " I wonder how long I should stay here. I know I can't stay too long or they'll find me for sure," I said sighing as I walked around.  'Hmmm... I wonder... Why did this church get closed down? It really does look rather beautiful.' I thought.

An hour had passed and I had begun to feel rather sleepy. I sat on one of the church's red lavender chairs. 'I wonder how I'm gonna get out of this cursive place and finally be free.' I thought as my eyes started to get heavy. I soon close my eyes and fall to slumber. " Susaki Neku," I suddenly heard someone say. My ice blue orbs shot open.

 "Who's there?" I asked both frightened and curious. I quickly stand up and look around but no one was in sight. 

"Susaki Neku," I heard the same voice say again.

 "Who are you and how do you know my name?" I waited for a response but it remained silent.

All of a sudden I see a bright light right in front of me. "I can't see it's too bright," I said covering my eyes. As the light seems to dim I uncover my eyes to see a golden door with blue roses going across the top of it. "wow...It's so beautiful," I said admiring its beautiful features. I reached for the knob to open it but before I was even close it shot open and pulled me in. After that everything went black. I soon open my eyes to find myself in a strange room. The room looked as if it was from a fancy castle' the ones you hear about in fairy tails.

"Um hello? Is anybody here?" I asked getting up and walking around. Everything was silent. It was like time had stopped and only I was the one that could move. Suddenly that light from before was surrounding me. "Ahh!" I screamed. The next thing I know I was in a dark room and a man was in front of me. He was tall and had blond hair that was just a bit shorter than shoulder length. His eyes were a golden color. 

"Susaki Neku I have brought you here to fulfill my plan, "the blond male said. 

"Um, sir could you please tell me who you are and what your plan is?" I asked respectfully.

 "I'm the great god Zeus. I have gathered gods who have trouble understanding human and are now studying humanity. Susaki Neku I have brought you here to help them understand human ways. I have done this before but the human I chose didn't teach them enough," Zeus explained.

"I see... How can I help?" I asked with determination in my blue orbs. 

"Help them understand human culture and human emotions. Now, there are three different types of gods I have brought here. Apollon, Dionysus, and Hades are the Greek Gods, Takeru and Tsukito are your Japanese Gods and, Loki, Balder, and Thor are the Norse Gods," Zeus continued. 

"So all of them have trouble understanding humans?" " that's a lot," I said.

 "Yes it is and if they don't change the connection between humans and gods will vanish... Neku I will gather you and the gods later to explain everything else but for now, Thorth, please show her to her room," Zeus said.

The male with short white hair and blue eyes that were next to Zeus nodded. " This way," Thorth said leading the way. It was silent all the way there. "Here is your room," Thorth said walking away. 

"Thank you Thorth," I said lightly smiling. The next thing I knew Thorth had pinned me to the wall.

 "It's Thorth Sama to you," he said coldly. I gulped. "Y-yes Thorth Sama," I said shaking. Thorth smirked and walked away.

I walked into my room to find a yellow and white rad doll walking around. The doll had stitches around its mouth, neck, and limbs. It's left eye was green while it's right eye was pink and much smaller. On its chest was a stitched on heart. The doll's head was tied like a sack with a green ribbon and pink button. The ragdoll stopped and looked at me.

 "Ah, you must be Susaki Neku. I'm Melissa. I'm here for whenever you need help or just when you need someone to talk to," the doll said. I smiled brightly.

 "Thank you, Melissa!"
