A Twist of Fate (Kamigami No Asobi)

Chapter 5

After spending a while thinking about it, I decided that I'd sing at the ball.  Right now I'm in my dorm room working on vocal warm-ups when someone knocked on my door. I opened the door to be pulled into a hug by Apollon. 

"Susaki Chan, Zeus told me that you'd be singing a the ball! I'm so happy! Your voice sounds so amazing!" he cheered. I laughed nervously. 

"Haha thanks, Apollon San. I'll be honest. I'm a little scared but I think I'll be okay." Apollon smiled cutely. 

"You'll do great. You should have more confidence.", he said, waving me farewell and leaving. Once he left I breathe out a sigh of relief. 'I know he means well, but I just don't know if I can really do this. I mean I'd be singing in front of EVERYONE and that's really nerve-racking.'

I close my eyes and take a long breath, before starting to my first note. Soon I was going note to note, singing pure harmony.  Pretty soon I get really into the music so I open my eyes and begin to dance. Throughout all of this, a smile never leaves my face. It was like I was suddenly in a whole new world. Like all that I had gone through never happened. It was pure bliss. After finishing the song I look at my clock. 'Wow, it's still pretty early in the day. Maybe I should go out for a walk. Yeah, a walk sounds great right now.'

So I leave my room and outside the building. As I'm walking I notice Dionysus in his garden. I smile and wave at him as I pass by. I head towards the forest and look at all the plants.  'They all look so beautiful. I wish I was as pretty as a flower. That'll never happen, though I don't think I really mind. I mean beauty comes truly from within.' "Well hello, kitten," Loki said from above my head. I jumped back and turned around to see Loki hanging upside down from a tree branch. "Geez, Loki don't scare me like that!", I said holding my hand over my heart.

Loki chuckled amusedly. "Sorry, kitten. What brings you here?" he asked.

"Just wanted to go for a walk. What about you, Loki, What brings you here?" Loki smirked as he jumped down from the tree and cupped my cheek. 

"I always see you with Apollon and so I thought we could spend time together today." My eyes grew wide and my face turned bright red.

 "O-okay. W-what do you want to do?", I asked. 

"Hmm...I've got one thing in mind," Loki brought his face closer to mine. 'Wha?! I-is L-L-Loki t-trying t-to k-kiss m-me?' Just as Loki's lips were almost touching mine, he quickly moved back when we heard a familiar voice call out.

 "Loki! Susaki!" Balder called. Just as he was midway over to us he tripped and landed face first.  

"Oh, Balder San are you alright?" Loki and I rush towards him. I stay back a little and Loki helps Balder up. 

"I'm alright.", He says with a laugh. I sigh with relief. 'Thank goodness.' I giggle as Loki continued to ask Balder if he was alright. 'He acts like Balder's big brother though they're just friends. It's kind of cute.'
