Fawn ran out of the dorms of the Hufflepuff common room. "Guy, guys, guys, we have a major problem..." She whisper-yelled. The three new Hufflepuff were up early before their detention.
"What is it?" James asked.
"Its a full moon tonight."
James and Willow blanched.
"What do we do?" Willow asked, her voice shaking.
"After detention, we go get Max and Ashley from the library and go and see Professor McGonagall. They all seem to know us as if we have always been here, so they should know about Max. We can sort out what to do then. We should really go now."
The three made their way to their detention.
---
"Now. You three are going to write some lines for me. 'I must not sneak out at night.'" Said Umbridge as she handed them quills.
"How many times?" Willow asked.
"Until the message sinks in."
"Where's the ink?" James asked.
"You won't need any."
The three looked at each other and started writing.
"What? But nothings- AAH!" Fawn dropped her quill and clutched her hand. The words were being engraved on her skin. "This is a cruel punishment!" She glared at the woman.
"My records state that you three have a habit of sneaking out at night. This should make the message sink in. And right now, I don't think its sunk in enough."
Fawn continued to glare at the professor as she picked up her quill and wrote more.
---
The trio stormed into the library and over to Ashley and Max who were waiting at a table.
"What took you three so long?" Max asked.
"We were being tortured by that Umbridge woman." James showed them his hand. Ashley gasped and held his hand. Max grunted.
"You three too, huh?" He showed them his hand.
"Yes yes, Professor Umbridge is a horrible woman but we have more pressing issues." Fawn interrupted. "It's a full moon."
Ashley and Max glanced at each other.
"W-what do we do? We can't get to the usual spot." Ashley said.
"Well, we don't have to worry about you getting away. There is the giant lake. Max however..."
"The Shrieking Shack. That's where Professor Lupin went in the third book." Max said. "We should talk to Professor McGonagall."
The rest of them agreed and they walked to Professor McGonagall's classroom.
---
Little did they know, that three students were watching them under the inviability cloak and followed them.
---
Night had fallen and Max and Ashley were irritable. Max growling at every little thing. Ashley grunting and scratching under the scales around her ears. The five of them snuck out of the castle with the help of Violet, holding onto their piece of parchment excusing them of any punishment. James led Ashley to the lake. While she waded in, James made his protective circle and sat down.
---
The Golden Trio stopped behind James and watched. Ashley transformed. Scales and a tail growing as she swam through the depths and sung her siren song.
Hermione grabbed Ron and Harry before they could walk into the lake.
"Snap out of it, you two. She's a siren. She'll hypnotise you." She dragged them away, following Fawn, Willow and Max.
---
The three snuck into the Shrieking Shack and Max moved into the corner, growling and scratching at himself. Fawn set up the protection around the bed and sat her and Willow down. Willow hid her face in Fawn and Max started transforming.
Something caught Fawns attention. She heard whispered arguments coming from the entrance.
"You shouldn't have followed. Either leave, or sit on the bed. You don't want to get hurt."
Harry lifted off the invisibility cloak and the Golden Trio hurried over to the bed.
"So now you know. And I'm guessing you know about Ash too." Fawn said with a hostile tone.
"We were only curious-" Hermione was cut off by Max's scream. Willow tensed up against Fawn.
"We were only curious. I, well, Ron and I suspected that Max was a werewolf. Lupin was against us following him..." Hermione said.
"But you did so anyway." Fawn watched Max, who was now a werewolf, fling himself against the walls of the Shack. "He's used to a forest. Ash is used to the sea. I set up magical boundaries for them so I don't lose them. But this is an unfamiliar forest with unfamiliar creatures. I didn't want to risk it." Fawn explained.
---
It was morning. James and Ash had joined them in the hut sometime before dawn, after Ashley surfaced and fell asleep.
Fawn woke up to find Max looking at his new scars. She walked over to Max, handing him the spare clothes.
"Next time, you'll be back at the forest. And Ash will be back at the sea."
Max got dressed and Fawn woke up the others. The group walked back to the castle and into the hospital wing. Hedwig arrived with a parcel and stopped it off to Harry.
"It's a letter from Snuffles and Lupin.
'Dear Hermione, Harry and Ron.
You suspect that another student is a werewolf and your suspicions are correct. From what you described and what you may have seen last night due to you not listening to Moony, it would seem you already know. So I've included some extra chocolate for your friend. Be careful. And no more letters. The Ministry is starting to track them.
Remus and Snuffles.'
Harry handed the chocolates to Max.
" You cannot tell anyone about this." Said Fawn.
"We promise we won't. We'll see you at the meeting."
The Golden Trio left, leaving the group alone.
