Fawn knocked on the door to Max's room. "Hey..." She said as she opened the door.

"Hey, yourself." Max replied. He seemed irritated. Of course, Fawn knew the reason.
"It's that time again... Full Buck Moon this month."
Max grunted. "Is everything ready?"

"I'm getting there. The campsite is booked. The one on the beach next to the bush."
Max nodded. "What happens during a buck moon?"

"Deer are more common around this time, sorta. So are thunderstorms."
Max shivered. Thunderstorms were not is favourite. Fawn noticed his discomfort at the mention of thunderstorms. "Don't worry, I checked the weather reports and there isn't supposed to be any tonight. And you know that the protection I use keeps out bad weather."

Max relaxed and gave a small smile. "Thanks, Fawn."

Fawn smiled back. "No problem. Now, I better go talk to Ashley and get everything we need." She said as she stood.

Max nodded. "All right." Fawn nodded and headed out. She walked into the kitchen and opened the cupboards full of hers and Willow's potions. She hummed as she shuffled through the vials, looking for the ones she needed.
"Are you looking for something?" She heard a voice and froze. It was Willow.

"Yeah, you got the protection and blocking potions?"

"Again?"

Fawn nodded. "Yeah..."

"What do you even use them for? Every month you ask for them... Are you going on your camping trip with Max and Ashley again? The one that James and I are not allowed to join?"

Fawn nodded again. "Yeah... I'm sorry, I would let you come but what happens on these trips are not a pretty sight."

"Why? What happens on your trips?"

Fawn looked at the calendar. Today was circled in red circles. A full moon was drawn on the small square. One of Max's drawings. Hey, sometimes you can't have books without illustrations and character designs. Willow followed her gaze and looked at the drawing. "Full moon..." She murmured.

Fawn nodded. "It's not pretty. Max transforms and the full moon irritates Ashley. It's best to keep her by the ocean in case of impulses."
Willow nodded. She stayed silent for a second then looked at Fawn. "Can... we come this time?"
Fawn stayed silent as she thought. "Okay. I'll talk to James." Fawn turned back to the cupboard and grabbed what she needed, putting them in her bag before walking next door.

---
Fawn knocked on the door. James opened it. "Hey, Fawn. Is it that time again?" She nodded.
"Yeah. You can come this time. I'm warning you, it's not pretty, but you can come."
James nodded. "Okay, I'll get ready. Ashley's in the pool." Fawn smiled and walked into Ashley's room.
---
"Knock, knock." Fawn said. Ashley opened her eyes. Her fingers moved to the scales behind her ear, scratching underneath them.

"Hey, Fawn. The stuff you need is over there. The cream, the nets and the oxygen masks."

Fawn smiled. "Thanks, Ash. Willow and James are coming tonight."
"Why?" Ashley asked, tilting her head before frowning and letting out a small grunt. She couldn't get underneath her scales. That's just what happens on a full moon. She gets very irritated.

Fawn handed her a nail file from her pocket, Ashley smiled. "Willow wanted to know why I kept needing the same potions every month. Wondering what happens on our monthly trips. I told her. I warned both of them that it's not pretty, but they are still coming anyway."
Ashley nodded. "I suppose it's good for them. They at least get to learn what their significant other does each month."
Fawn chuckled. "Significant annoyance in Max and Willow's case."

"Honestly. Those two just don't get it."

"Honey, it took you a while to get together."
Ashley and Fawn laughed. "Yeah, I guess it did." Fawn stood and put the cream, nets and oxygen masks in her bag before walking to the door.
"I'll see you in an hour. I'll pack the car up."

"Wouldn't the van be better?"

"Hm... I suppose so. I'll see you later."

~~time skip to campsite~~

Fawn, James and Willow piled out of the van and unloaded the luggage. Ashley and Max were asleep in the van. Typical behaviour for them.

"Isn't this a lot of stuff for a one night trip?" James asked.

Fawn shook her head. "You have no idea." They dragged everything to the centre of the sight. "Okay. James? You set up the tents. Willow? You set up the gas cooker and the food. The sun's setting fast. The tents aren't my biggest worry. It's the food."

"What are you going to do?" Willow asked.

Fawn grabbed the potions, nets and an oxygen mask. "I'm going for a dip then a walk around the bush."

"What for?" James asked as Fawn slipped off her coat.

"We don't want to loose them, do we?" With that, Fawn walked towards the ocean.
---

Max and Ashley emerged from the van as Fawn returned. Max was extremely moody and irritated whereas Ashley was almost in a trance. She was swaying and kept glancing at the ocean.

"Everything is set up. When the moon reaches it's peak, which is..." Fawn looked up, "in about two to three minutes, you can go." Fawn sat down with James and Willow, sprinkling a power around the two. "This is for your protection. Ashley doesn't do much damage, but she can lash out. Only if you interrupt her. But none of you have been in contact with Max's werewolf form. He would be unaccustomed to you two."

Willow and James nodded. Fawn looked up. The moon had reached it's peak. Ashley's eyes snapped open, the blues more intense and bright as she walked towards the ocean, singing ancient tunes. Max was a small distance away from them. He was becoming angry, his muscles tightened and his fists clenched. He let out a scream, Willow clutched onto Fawn's arm. Max felt like he was on fire. Growls and snarls came out of his mouth as he lost control f himself, looking towards the trio. He started to shake and he lost complete control. He threw his head back as he fell forward, shifting into his wolf form. Instead of Max standing on the beach, it was a wolf. He snarled and bounded off into the bush.

Fawn looked at Willow in the lantern light. She had gone pale. Fawn wrapped her arms around the shaking witch as she collapsed into her arms. "It'll be okay. I told you it won't be pretty. But he'll be okay. I promise." Fawn looked towards James. She knew he heard her melodies. But the powder around their campsite meant that it wouldn't have an affect.
"She's... she's singing about me. Singing about us..." He said, gazing towards the ocean.

"Her melody sounds different to each person who hears it. It sounds like what the listener desires, what the listener feels." James nodded, continuing to watch the siren.
---

The sun rose and Fawn opened her eyes. She carefully laid down the still sleeping witch and walked towards the ocean. She found Ashley sitting on the shore line, watching the sea. She placed a hand on her shoulder. Ashley looked up, the wild in her had gone. Fawn smiled. "Let's go home."

---
Fawn walked to the edge of the bush and found a sleeping Max. She lightly shook him awake. He groaned and got up, still half asleep. "Let's go home."

Wow. That is the longest chapter so far. I figured I better write a transformation chapter for Max. And what a better timing than writing it on a full moon? The part about the full moon and Ashley was slightly inspired by H2O. The desire to go out into the ocean and singing the ancient songs, along with the irritation from the build up to the full moon. What happened to Ashley is not exactly what happens in H2O.
