Chapter Two
The loud noises, chatter, clanking, crying, everything in the airport was overwhelming to me. I mean, I had been in an airport before, once, when I was like seven. Now, I was standing in front of gate while many friends had come to see us off. It was three days after the news had be relayed to me that we were moving. In that three days, we had packed up almost all of our belongings (my parents had apparently already bought a house complete with furniture) and also sold our house. Overall, it flew by. When I wasn't packing, I was hanging out with my friends, or getting in a few more singing lessons. I forgot to mention that I was a decent singer. Ever since I was maybe five, I could sing. But, no one knew about it. And I mean, no one.
Anyway, back to the scene before me. Syd and Alexandria were bawling their eyes out. Even poor Cal had a few tears, which was HIGHLY unusual. Austin wouldn't look at me. I walked over to him, and ducked my head to look into his eyes.
"Hey buddy. You okay?" I asked him.
"Ummm.. yeah, I'm fine.'
"Then why won't you look at me? I want to see those pretty eyes of yours." I smiled at him.
"Well...." Then he grabbed me roughly and pulled me into a hug.
I didn't expect this from him. Nor did I expect my shoulder to now be soaked with his tears. Then I started crying. God, he was my best friend. And, right at this moment, I realized I liked him so much more then that. He pulled back and I couldn't stop myself. I kissed him. And surprisingly, he kissed me back. I didn't notice the wolf whistling until we broke apart, and I looked over at my friends.
"Took you two long enough!" Syd yelled giggling like a mad man.
"Hey, if they're doing it, I might as well.." Cale said as he turned to Alexandria and kissed her.
"Holy crap you two!" I said laughing. I guess everything was coming out now.
We all laughed and gave our final hugs as a voice came from overhead that relayed "Flight 3B will be loading in 5 minutes."
"Come on ShellBella!" I heard my mom call. I turned and looked at her and nodded.
Turning back to the boy standing in front of me, I smiled through the tears. Austin tried to look strong but gave up as the tears fell from his deep brown eyes.
"Hey now, you gotta be happy." I said, though I was having a hard time convincing myself.
"That's kinda hard to do Shell." He chuckled.
"I know... I'm sorry, really." I said giving him and all my friends one last hug.
"Now, you all better text, email, skype, call, you name it, you better be doing it to contact me!" I said as we all had a group hug moment.
However, it was cut short by my mom, who practically dragged me away. Grumbling, I turned back and called to my friends,
"Bye guys!"
Next thing I knew, I was following my parents inside the corridor that led to the plan with my brother Andrew trailing behind. I slowed down to walk next to him, and saw that he was texting about three different girls. I had to hold back a chuckle that almost escaped my lips.
"Hey, bud, are we sitting next to each other?" I asked him, checking my plane ticket.
"No, mom got you a window seat, and got us seats in the middle, cause you're the only one of us that apparently doesn't get air sick."
