Chapter 15
(Liam POV)
I awoke to find that Niall was still cuddled against my chest. Not that I minded any, we did have this whole bromance thing going on. I stared at his face, so peaceful. Something I was not use to seeing. He had tear tracks going down his cheeks. I guess he was crying in his sleep. I like to think maybe he wasn't, that he had a peaceful sleep with no new nightmares to haunt him. He already had enough real nightmares to last him all of his life.
I didn't want too, but with one glance at the clock, I was forced to awaken Niall. It was already well past eight o'clock, and both Niall and I had to take showers. I shoved him slightly, and he emitted a groan. I shook him again, saying "Niall, mate, you have to wake up."
He mumbled something incoherent, I believe somehing about food, and rolled over, snuggling furthur into the covers. I couldn't help but smile at me. Niall was, by far, the most innocent of all of us.
"Niall, wake up. I'll let you take the shower first and I'll order us some food."
Upon hearing the magic word, he twisted back to face me, his eyes wide and mouth agape. I chuckled, ruffled his hair and got up to call room service and bring us food. A lot of food.
I heard Niall get up, grab some clothes, and stumble into the bathroom, the water turning on moments later. I rang up room service and ordered eggs, waffles, sausage, and fruit. I didn't eat too much but Niall could eat for all of us boys.
I sat down and waited for Niall to finish up and when he did, I made my way into the bathroom.
~ Forty-five minutes before the meeting ~
Finally, I rallied the boys together, and we made our way down to the cars that would take us to the meeting room. Some building over on the opposite side if Times Square. We didn't really know, only because America was still an unfamiliar place. We pulled up to the building, everyone else climbing out if the car. As I was making my way out, I looked back to see Niall, hunched in the corner of the back seat.
"Niall mate?" I asked him, reaching out to lay a hand on his tense shoulder.
"I can't do it Liam."
I cocked my head to the side, "Do what?"
"I can't go in there... I can't see her, or I swear I'll cry like a big baby."
"I'll be here." I said to this poor, pitiful boy
He peered at me through a fringe of blond. "Promise?"
I nodded my head. "Of course. What are best friends for?"
With that, he slowly climbed out of the car. I put my arm around his shoulder, steering him towards are awaiting band mates. I'm sure we all had the same grim expression on our faces as we boarded the lift. The ride was silent, awkward. No one spoke. I'm pretty sure no one was breathing.
The lift doors opened, and at first, no one made a move. Finally, with a sigh, I steeped out of the lift, the boys trailing after me. The walk towards the room felt long, and my legs felt full of imaginary lead. We arrived at the door, soft murmurings escaping from the closed door.
I pushed it open, holding my breath as I walked in, peering at the people seated around the extremely large table. I let out a sigh of relief. Bella wasn't here yet. I strod in, seating myself next to Doug, the head of our management. The boys followed, all seating next to me. Niall, then Zayn, then Harry and Louis.
We sat in an uncomfortable silence. Really, it was quit maddening. Someone was tapping an irregular beat with their pencil, and I resisted the urge to chuck my shoe at them. Everyone looked around at each, some checking their watches. I checked my phone. Ten fifteen. They were late.
