Hailey

Stepping out of the shower, I wrapped the off- white towel around my body. I inhaled the damp of steam that greeted my lungs. I did the usual every saturday morning, a hot long shower making me relax. Ofcourse I showered more often -ew, I'm not some dirty person- but saturday showers were the best. I got snapped out of my thoughts by my sister knocking on the door, her impatience noticeable. ''Hailey I have to shower too you know?'' She shouted in her annoying high pitched voice. For a 14 year old girl Nikki could be very.. bossy. I let out a groan of annoyance. ''Jeez calm down, there's another bathroom too you know?'' I shouted back, mimicking her voice which made her stomp her feet on the ground. ''Mom's in that one!'' I sighed at her complaining tone. ''Fine.'' I huffed. Tightening the towel around my body as I unlocked the door and walked past her, sharing some glares. She immediately walked into the bathroom and shut the door. ''Ugh! Teenagers!'' I spat earning some words from my sister. ''I heard that!'' ''You were supposed to!'' I told her with the same tone as her, before I walked towards my room. I got dressed and headed downstairs to have some breakfast, being greeted by my dad who was sitting at the dinner table, drinking some coffee. ''Goodmorning princess.'' He greeted, looking up for a second but then paying attention at his news paper again. ''Morning,'' I replied while getting myself a glass of orange juice. ''I'm going to Olivia, is that okay?'' I asked innocently while taking a seat across my dad at the table. ''Mhm.'' He mumbled, not really paying attention, which didn't bother me because he always accept everything I ask when he's distracted. ''Thanks.'' I said standing up and kissing his cheek. I walked over to the counter to place my empty glassin the sink and headed towards the hall to take my jacket. ''I'll be home at 4!'' I shouted, earning a mumble coming from the kitchen. I chuckled and walked out. The sun was shining down at the pavement in front of me, making me shiver at it's pleasant warmth traveling over my face. I started walkin down the streets towards Olivia's place, since it was just a few blocks away from mine.

''..Like he was just smiling at me all the time!'' Olivia rattled on and on about her crush Kyle. We were at Starbucks enjoying our Frappuchino. I let Olivia talk about him for like an hour now, without paying any attention because it was somewhere else. There was a boy standing at the counter, -probably waiting on his order-  and I couldn't get my eyes off him for some reason, he was staring at me with his caramel colored eyes once in a while, definetely thinking I was some kind of creep. I looked away when he looked at me again for the thirth time and decided to not give attention to him anymore. A waving hand in front of my face startled me from my thoughts. ''Hello? Are you even there?'' Olivia said, her eyebrows raised in confusion. ''Y-yes,'' I chuckled softly ''Sorry'' I mumbled taking a sip from my Frappuchino as my eyes lifted up towards where the boy stood, he wasn't there anymore. ''Whatever.'' Olivia snickered and shook her head. ''Do you think Kyle likes me? I mean, if you look at the signs he gives me..'' She trailed off, curling her hair around her finger. I giggled at her insecurity, Kyle obviously liked her, but she just wanted some confirmation from her best friend, aka me. ''Uhm yeah! It's pretty obvious'' I said as if she was crazy to think he didn't like her. I played with the straw in my plastic cup as I looked up at her. ''I think you two should go on a date sometime.'' I smiled making her blush. ''Yeah, but he didn't ask me yet.'' She rolled her eyes, ''I can't wait any longer you know!'' She said desperate which made me chuckle. ''He will ask you out someday, don't be so impatient.'' I shrugged causing her to sigh. ''Okay then..'' She trailed off. ''Let's go shopping!'' She evantually cheered while standing up and pulling me with her.

I walked home after the shop session with Olivia, god she didn't shut up about Kyle.. But I got used to it along the way and just chuckled about her obsession with him. When I was in front of my house I stopped walking to dig in my bag and find my house keys but something else caught my eye. It was a basketball that rolled my way, I looked up at the direction where it came from. Showing me a van with some furniture inside, in front of the grey stone house which was on sell for quite a long time. New neighbours... great. It thought by myself and fought the urge to roll my eyes, I didn't like new people, don't even ask me why because I don't know either. I shrugged the thoughts off and bent down to grab the ball. I hesitantly walked over to the van, but I couldn't see anyone so I walked around it until I stood right in front of the house, again nobody in sight. But then a voice spoke from behind me, causing me to jump a little and snap my head around. My eyes widened as I recognized the person in front of me, it was the boy from Startbucks. I noticed he realised it too. ''Can I help you or something?'' He said a bit harsh, raising one eyebrow. Jeez, somebody's moody. ''Uhm, I think this is yours.'' I said softly, handing him the ball as my hands were shaky. No, I wasn't scared of someone like him, pff. He grabbed it, spinning the ball on his indexfinger. ''Thanks.'' He said boring holes with his eyes in mine. ''Have I seen you before?'' He squeezed his eyes a bit, tilting his head. ''Ehm, I-I don't know.'' God damn it Hailey, stop being such a loser. He chuckled, ''Yeah, you're the girl that stared at me the whole time at Starbucks right?'' Grabbing the ball with both of his hands again, he gave me a confident smirk. ''I wasn't staring..'' I defended myself softly even though I know I did stare at him the whole time. He gave me a 'really?' look which made me confess. ''Okay, but not the whole time.'' I said throwing my hands in the air slightly embarrassed. He gave me a smile in victory. I fought the urge to roll my eyes, although I must admit he had a gorgeous  smile.. Okay stop it Hailey. ''Uhm, I have to go.'' I said as I realised I was staring at him once again. ''Okay.'' he shrugged one shoulder. ''Bye.'' I awkwardly said as I attempted to walk away but his voice stopped me. ''Wait'' I turned around to face him again. ''What's your name?'' He asked as he walked towards me since I was further away from him. ''Hailey.'' I replied looking up at him. He was a few inches taller than me. ''My name's Justin.'' He put out his hand, and I shook it shyly making him chuckle. ''Well, I'll see you around I guess.'' I stuttered and quickly walked away again. ''Do you live there?''I turned back around, Justin pointed over to my house. ''Yes.'' I mumbled softly. ''Nice'' He nodded his head and walked inside his own house without saying anything, I just stood there awkwardly until he disappeared behind the front door. I inhaled a long breath and walked back home.
