III—Piper

Piper immediately realized the difference in atmosphere now that Enceladus was gone.

As soon as the giant’s presence had vanished, the air around them took on a warm, comfortable temperature, contrasting the previously cold, almost-biting chill.

The wild waves which had been rocking the Argo II back and forth receded back into its originally still state.

How much time had passed fighting Enceladus’ owl?

As it had been much darker before, and now Piper noticed the sky getting lighter, and the sun just about rising over the straight line that was the horizon.

The seemingly small ball of fire painted the sky with hints of golden yellow, and splashes of orange, glowing like a celestial halo in the distance.

“Hmph!” Leucothea broke the silence with a dignified huff, casting a challenging look down towards the water, as if threatening it to disobey her.

When Enceladus’ voice no longer echoed up to taunt them, the goddess seemed satisfied and walked over to her son, who was still stroking the dolphin and chattering away to it, eagerly, as if they were recounting the tale of the past few minutes’ excitement.

Piper’s eyes lingered over the cuddled forms of Percy and Annabeth, still whispering to each other as they sat on the deck floor, wrapped in towels.

Then the daughter of Aphrodite turned to meet Jason’s eyes, sending a mental question to him, through her eyes, asking, ‘So, what do we do, now?’

The son of Jupiter slid his Imperial Gold gladius back into its sheath, and confidently stepped closer towards the goddess.

Leucothea raised an eyebrow expectantly.

“You have something you want to say, young demigod?” the goddess questioned, indifferently.

Piper noticed the flicker of doubt flash across her boyfriend’s face for a moment, before the son of Jupiter steels himself and speaks up.
