So here's the other part to chapter 35 , hopefully there will be another chapter in a few days
Do I go home? Is it worth it? By now my mother will be fully worked up about the call from my head teacher and fully drunk. The rain started giving me my answer, home it is.
With my anger still burning it didn’t take long to reach my house. When it came into sight the lights were on and a strange car was in the drive way but no obscene music coming from the house. She only has friends round when they are partying; maybe one of them is picking her up for the night. Maybe luck is on my side and I won’t have to deal with her tonight, if I just linger out here until they leave I can slip in with my key and avoid one of her outbursts. I took a seat on our neighbour’s low garden wall knowing I won’t be seen from here as she will go the other way with her friend heading to the city so she won’t see me sitting here. My breath rose above me in white clouds as the rain pelted down around me but still no sign of them leaving. Maybe it’s a guy she’s brought home to entertain for the evening, I began to tremble from the cold.
Finally I heard noise from my drive but not what I expected, the distinct sound of the door crashing open was followed by my mother’s dulcet tones. Although slurred by drink I could still make out what she was saying.
“Get out of here! You’re not wanted, you ruined everything why would I want to see you again” she shouted.
It was quiet for a few seconds while her companion responded obviously on a more suitable volume level.
“Reasonable? I'm being unreasonable? Well aren’t you mister high and mighty. You can have her for all I care! It’s yours and her fault, you two ruined everything!” she shouted hysterical.
Then more silence.
“Don’t you dare? How’s it my fault! You did it all; it’s your fault Mick left. You and her ruined it!” she shouted.
What’s she talking about? Why’s she on about dad?
“It’s a little late for that!” she shouted.
More silence.
“How does that help me? You haven’t changed one little bit; you always turn up after the shits hit the fan. Get out of here!” she shouted then the clear sound of our front door being slammed echoed in the silence.
I hope none of our neighbours are trying to sleep.
What the hell is all that about? He obviously knows mum from before, before dad left, before we moved. I listened to the crunch of gravel beneath heavy feet, then the thud of heavy boots on pavement. I looked up to see a shadowy figure coming toward me with his hands in his pockets and his head down. He had almost reached my spot on the wall before I knew it, the dim light illuminating his face told me he was the same guy I found her arguing with a few weeks back. Why does he keep coming back if all they do is argue, I was in trouble with the school that day to.
“What you doing sitting out here kid? You hear me and your mum talking?” he asked stopping in front of me.
I shrugged having no answer for him. If that’s what he calls talking I hate to think what his idea of arguing is, then again he must have been talking as I couldn’t hear what he was saying.
“You in trouble?” he asked nodding toward my bruised hand.
I just shrugged.
“You need a place to crash tonight?”
I shook my head, what’s with guys offering me somewhere to crash for the night when I'm sitting on this wall. I'm pretty sure there ain't a sign on it that says been kicked out or charity case.
