"Logan, remember that you're no longer invincible," Charles said, full of worry for his former student, "you be careful out there." "I know, Professor," Logan replied absentmindedly, "I'm sorry, but I have to do this alone. Your powers aren't what it used to be either."
Half an hour later, they arrived in West Haven, and Charles relocated Laura, and he discovered that she was not so far from where they were. "there's an abandoned factory just a mile ahead, and we can intercept them there." he pointed on the GPS.
A while later, they spotted the van that was holding Laura captive. Logan parked his car in the middle of the road. The driver did not see them until it was almost too late. He slammed the brake so hard that the van left tire marks on the road. He mumbled something unintelligent under his breath and stepped out of the van.
"What do you want?" he said smugly. he had blond hair, a metal hand, and a haunting skull tattooed on his neck. "oh my god..." Charles had recognised this man right away. His name was Donald Pierce, and he tried to take over Sebastian Shaw's new Hellfire Club. He was a strong foe that should not be underestimated. He turned to warn Logan, but realised that he was already gone.
"Let. her. go." Logan gritted through his teeth. The man chuckled. He raised his hand, and soon, a handful of soldiers stepped outside his car; all of them held guns in their hands. "I think you'll need to learn how to count first." He smirked.
Logan's anger got the best of him. He popped his sharp claws out of his right hand and pointed them at the man's face.
"I asked you a simple question." Logan shouted, "where is Laura?" All around, Pierce's men loaded their guns, but he stopped them with a simple gesture, and just smirked at Logan again in return. "Wolverine? You sure have changed." Pierce began to circle him, "I didn't think you would age... ahh very well. If you really want to see her, you can. I reckon you'll also make a good lab rat. And after I'm through with you, you'll both be rotting in hell." He walked casually past his men and opened the trunk. He lifted Laura out and dragged her into Logan's view. With one arm, he swiftly grabbed her by her neck. With the other, he pointed a gun at her temple. Click.
"the gun is loaded," Pierce said, "twitch and she dies."
Laura's eyes slowly adjusted to the light, and she saw Logan there to save her. A tinge of hope burnt fiercely in her chest. Her hands were bound, but she could just raise them above her head. as she did, she yanked out a hairpin and jabbed it in Pierce's right eye. Caught off guard, Pierce stumbled backwards, covering his injured eye with his hand. Grabbing onto her chance of escaping, Laura wiggled free from his grasp and extended her claws. Swiftly, she ducked as a bullet flew straight past her head. It made contact with the van's fuel tank and caused a leak. A minute later, the van had burst into flames.
Laura fought alongside Logan, and they managed to take out all of Pierce's men. "Hurry, let's go before Pierce catches up with us." Logan held Laura's hand. "Charles is waiting in the car." However, Laura's left leg was wounded, and so Logan carried her away from the scene.
They meet up with Charles in his car. After a long drive, they finally arrived at the X-mansion. "You both could've been taken." Charles shouted, "Logan, you always let your anger get the best of you!" "It's not his fault." Laura blurted out unintentionally. She knew that she shouldn't interrupt Charles, but she felt the urge to stand up for Logan. "I never thanked him for saving my life," she turned to face Logan, "so thank you," she said. Both Charles and Logan were taken aback by Laura's comment. "I'm sorry Laura, for shouting." Charles apologised, "just be more careful next time, and you should both rest." with that, he disappeared into his office and slammed the door.
