Evee ditched her jeans for comfortable pajama bottoms and a white t-shirt and pushed her hair up into a messy knot. She honestly did not care how the doctor would see her today, she did not feel well and all she wanted to do was crawl back in bed. Her eyes felt tired as she made her way towards the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
She noticed Harry looking at her in concern from the sofa, he was still in some jeans and a t-shirt. "Want me to make you something to eat? I can make you a sandwich?"
"No, I'm not hungry but thank you anyways." She smiled, grabbing a glass from the cupboard and filling it with some still water. She heard the doorbell in the background and immediately Harry jumped up from the couch, their Beagle following him enthusiastically to see who was about to enter their home.
It didn't take long before Evee heard some muffled voices in the background and her eyes raised at the two men entering the living room. She watched Harry smile in concern as the doctor, Evee thought he was around his sixties, stood next to him, a friendly smile upon his face. She immediately placed the glass of water on the counter, watching how both men strolled towards her.
"Eveline, this is Doctor Evans. He's the family doctor. Doctor Evans, this is my wife, Eveline." Harry introduced them both.
"Your Royal Highness, it's a pleasure to meet you, although it is unfortunately under these circumstances." The doctor smiled at the blonde, knowing that she first had to offer her hand before he could shake it. The Duchess of Clarence and Avondale immediately did so and he placed his in hers. He noticed the weakened handshake.
"Yes, I have been feeling a little under the weather this last week and since we're going abroad after the weekend, I would like to be the old me again." Evee nodded her head at the doctor, noticing how he waited around for further instructions. "Do you want us to sit down? What do you prefer? The sofa?"
"What's most comfortable for you." The Doctor stated, smiling at the small blonde.
"The couch it is then." She smiled, watching how Harry turned around to follow his wife and the doctor.
"Tell me a little how and what you've been feeling." Doctor Evans gently requested, hoping he did not offend her. He knew she had a nursing degree.
For Evee, it was the first time in her life a doctor had tiptoed around her so gently. She was used to doctors snapping at her in the hospital. For a moment, she wondered what Doctor Chasey would think of her now. She remembered him probing her when Harry and her were fighting and it was all over the newspapers. "Tired. Very tired. I haven't eaten in a while, my stomach's quite heavy and I'm having cramps."
"And you're dizzy, right?" Harry nodded his head, sitting next to her in concern.
"Yes, but that's because I haven't eaten a lot. Just the low blood sugar, I think." Evee spoke, searching the doctor's eyes.
"Okay, I'm just going to take your blood pressure and listen to your heart." The doctor instructed. "I will run some blood tests as well because if you do have a bacterial infection, we will need the fitted antibiotics to get you better instantly." He spoke, eyeing the couple in front of him.
"Yes, yes of course." Evee smiled, pushing out her arm for the Doctor to apply the manual blood pressure gauge. "Are there any specific times you get sick?" The Doctor questioned the blonde.
"No, just overall I think. My stomach's very heavy." She answered, feeling the band tighten on her left arm. She knew she had to be quiet so the doctor would hear.
When he finally pushed the air out of the band, he took out his stethoscope. "Your blood pressure is too low, what do you normally have?"
"120 over 70, always." She mumbled.
