The ride towards St-Mary's wasn't that long, Evee had a beanie over her head and wore casual, comfortable clothing (it helped that she still felt sick). The last thing they wanted to happen was to be recognized as they entered the hospital. Walking in with some skinny jeans and a pair of sneakers, Evee turned her head down, holding on tightly to her purse as Harry walked behind her, opening the backdoor of the hospital.
Evee knew she couldn't talk in public about it so they were silent as the two of them were escorted to the private section of the hospital, towards the Lindo Wing. As soon as they entered the building, relieve took over both their faces when no one had recognized them.
"Your Royal Highnesses, we've been expecting you. Welcome to the Lindo Wing." A middle-aged nurse in decadent looking scrubs spoke, a big smile upon her face. Evee honestly didn't know how scrubs could look so fashionable but apparently in this private section, they did.
Everything looked so much more... Homey than St-Thomas, the hospital she used to work in. It had a total different vibe, she could smell that it was clean and sterile, it was still a hospital of course but she knew people payed a lot of money to actually be in it. She tried not to stare at too many objects as Harry's hand placed itself on her lower back, escorting her to follow the lady.
What surprised her most was that the two doctors, one older man with glasses who introduced himself as Doctor Alan Farthing and another Doctor Guy Thorpe-Beeston, who looked a little younger and was shorter were already waiting for the two of them. As soon as they saw the couple big bright smiles covered their faces.
Harry held out his hand for them to shake and they both did, immediately turning towards the blonde and shaking hers as well after she offered it. "It's a pleasure to see you both." The older one spoke, "We're very delighted by the news."
"We are too." Harry grinned, looking at his wife, "It was a little unexpected but we're very curious and thrilled."
"Come in, come in." The doctors stood aside, giving the couple space to enter the room first.
Evee's eyes scanned the interior in front of her, everything shiny and white with a hint of woodwork. She recognized the apparatuses immediately and cringed at the gynecology chair. She remembered she probably had to open her legs for these strangers tonight. "Let us have a talk first and then we'll have a look."
Harry and her took the seats in front of the desk, watching how the two doctors casually sat down behind the computers. "We will be here for you every step of the way." Doctor Thorpe-Beeston spoke, looking at the blonde with a kind smile. "The reason we're with two tonight is because we do want to know you a little better and we do not want to take any risks or overlook anything."
Evee smiled, she kind of had the feeling that these people thought she would give birth to Elvis in seven months. "That's very kind."
"Right." Doctor Farthing spoke, "Doctor Evans has e-mailed me your blood results and everything looks normal. It shows a high level of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, this is the hormone the body produces by the placenta shortly after the embryo attaches to the uterine lining and it builds up rapidly after the first days of pregnancy. Your levels are quite high, which means you should be pregnant for some time now. When was your last day of your menstruation cycle, the spotting Doctor Evans told me about, not included?"
Evee thought about it for a minute, "It was just before our honeymoon, should be around the middle of March."
The doctor nodded his head, typing rapidly into the computer. "Okay and how have you been feeling since then?"
"I haven't felt anything in the first month, it's only these past weeks that I've been under the weather. Dizzyness, a heavy stomach, overall tired." Evee replied, making eye-contact with Harry who listened intensely.
