Marco groaned as he walked through his neighborhood. His body was sore all over. He wasn't used to being slammed into a bunch of lockers against his will. Usually, he was the one slamming kids into lockers. Marco sighed as he massaged his shoulder. He hadn't felt this sore since he got beat up back in Freshman year. Whatever. It didn't matter. Everyone was in class when it happened. No one saw him get destroyed by some new student with her pink blast. Once the bruises on his back heal, it would be like it never happened. Of course, the dent in those lockers would still be there, but that was the school's problem. Sure, some people would suspect that he had something to do with damaging the lockers, but they would never think that he was the one rammed into it. That wasn't how the school's food chain worked.

It's fine, it doesn't matter. Just by looking at her, Marco knew that he and the new student were from different backgrounds. It didn't seem likely that they would run into each other anytime too soon. Maybe he'd see her once or twice down the halls, but not anywhere else. That was fine. He didn't want to see her again, but at the same time, he knew that he had some unfinished business with her. The new girl could tell everyone about how she took him by surprise and ... well, he couldn't really explain what happened, it was so sudden, but it was still a humiliating defeat.

Marco sighed as he reached his house. He was happy to be home. He just wanted to relax and think everything over. If this new girl wanted, she could ruin his reputation to everyone. Maybe he'd find her at lunch and have a "chat" with her. He really didn't want to be with her more than needed, but he was going to make sure that blackmail wasn't an option for her. Marco dug the house keys out of his pocket, and he started to unlock the door, but before he could turn the key, the door swung open.

"Marco! You're home!" his mother cried. She gave Marco a large hug.

Marco flinched as she squeezed his bruises. He felt his joints crack under the pressure.

"Er, mom stop crushing me," Marco gasped. She freed him at his request. "Why are you home so early?" He asked rubbing his sides.

Mrs. Diaz smiled. "Well, your dad and I, we have a surprise for you! We've been thinking about this for a while, and we decided to just go for it!"

Marco stood shocked in disbelief. No. That was all he could think. No way. The couldn't, they wouldn't!

"You're... you're pregnant?!" Marco cried.

Mrs. Diaz blinked. She then started to laugh. "No, no, of course not Marco! That's not what I meant!" She continued to laugh before continuing, "Your school has a foreign exchange student program, and we decided that we'd give it a try and see how it goes."

Marco sighed in relief. He still wasn't happy with the sudden surprise, but he was glad he wouldn't have to put up with an infant screaming and crying and pooping everywhere. Still, having a foreign exchange student over seemed like something everyone in the house should know about. It wasn't a good surprise.

"Come inside Marco, you have to meet her!" Mrs. Diaz called. She opened the door for Marco to walk inside.

Marco shrugged as he walked past his mother. He was very upset with her, but there was no point in arguing. He had no voice in this house. He could hear his father laughing inside. Great. He must be telling some of his stupid dad jokes. He walked into the living room but stopped dead in his tracks. No way. Sitting next to his father was her. Of all the foreign exchange students to have over, it had to be her!

"Ah, Marco, you're here!" Mr. Diaz said. "You must meet Star Butterfly! She's so polite and very funny."

Star's smile dropped as she recognized Marco walking in. "This is your house?" She asked startled. "These are your parents?"
