The drive to this so called magical and maybe even a bit too public that given credit for hang out is short. I mainly talked to Chloe. She asked me personal questions like what kind of stuff I like. I don't even wanna take any notice of Harry, he doesn't exist to me right now.
''Well from what you've told me I don't regret inviting you so far'' she says as we get out of the car. The air is cool but nice, not too humid like some summer nights, which my hair and I are grateful for. Although I'm getting the feeling its gonna get chillier further into the night. Great. I guess I'm just not very good at predicting the weather.
''Don't speak too soon'' I hear Harry mumble under his breath. I'm this close, this damn close. I can't even express myself anymore, I'd be happy if I never got to see him again. How can someone has nice as Chloe hang out with someone as rude as Harry? Chloe hears his remark and gives him a look. Thank you. He just shrugs and starts walking with her. I follow behind them, in that awkward kind of way where two people are infront of you and you kind of feel like the third wheel.
''So where is this magnificent place?'' I ask gesturing with my hands. All I see is a gravel path with trees at opposite sides, it's a bit eerie to be honest, especially at night considering that the only source of light is the moon. Maybe in the day time it may seem like a perfect place for a music festival.
''Just up this small hill'' she points. I didn't see that before. I remember doing this kind of thing back home. I used to hang out in the forest sometimes in past summers at night to just talk with some of my friends and it was awesome. Sometimes we'd get into real deep topics, at least thats what it felt like. But this feel different, as if I'm experiencing something I never have before. I suppose due to the fact I don't know these people and I'm a lot older this time. But I'm not afraid and I'm wondering if I should be.
The hill is small but steep and Chloe and Harry get to the top before I do. Just as I'm about to reach the top my foots slips on a small rock causing me to slide down slightly. I put my hands on the ground to regain my balance. Even if I fell down to the bottom it's not like I would die, I'd probably end up with a few scrapes but this shit is hard, I was never much of a climber. And really... this isn't even climbing! Maybe unprepared hiking is a better word. To my complete surprise I look up and see Harry with his hand extended out to me. What? Seriously, what the hell?
''C'mon'' he says. I decide not to question it and I take his hand. He pulls me up and when I'm back up on my feet I give him a small smile. He just nods with a neutral expression that's hard to read and keeps on walking. The hill is much larger than I thought, it's small in height but has a vast surface, it obviously had to because the park in built on it. Harry's long legs permit him to walk faster than me, and I struggle to keep up
''Where's Chloe?'' I ask Harry, literally right behind him ''And stop walking so fast I can't keep up''. I look around and notice what they meant about having to drive, theres a huge metal fence with barbed wire. Even if it didn't have barbed wire I'm not climbing any fences. They have panels and you can kinda see the different coloured lights of the park through them.
''Calm down she's not far, and it's you who's walking too slow''
''Excuse me for being concerned about being left alone or lost in a place I've never been before'' I look at the ground and kick a rock to the side, he's still walking infront of me but he slows his pace.
''I'd never leave you here alone'' he quietly admits.
''What?'' I just want to hear him say that again, it's almost too unbeliveable it's funny. I'm sure he can sense the humour in my voice.
''I know I may not like you but I'd have to be a pretty big ass hole to leave you here by yourself'' he says in all seriousness. We're now walking next to eachother, still keeping our distance though. ''I mean'' he continues ''The last thing I want is to be responsible for the plot of some horror movie''. Harry runs his fingers through his hair and puts his hands in the pockets of his hoodie. It's not even cold.
So you don't like me but you'd never leave me here alone only because you don't want to be accused of anything that could happen to me... That makes sense. After a minute or so of silence I decide to break it.
''Thanks by the way''
''For what?'' I've noticed through out this whole conversation he hasn't looked at me not even once, mainly because I was talking to his back before, and now's he's just looking ahead or at the path. I also noticed that the path is going along the perimetre of the park.
''For, what you just said... I guess''
''You're welcome?'' he replies in a weirded out tone, I can't help but smirk. Aaaand we're back to square one. I see the outline of a tea cup ride ahead. ''Is that it?'' I point to Harry.
''Yeah it is'' he replies. As we get closer I notice Chloe sitting on the leather seat of a bigger ride texting. How did she get here so fast? I guess after my small fall and Harry and I talking she just went straight ahead. I hope we didn't take too long.
''You guys took forever'' she says, answering my question ''What do you think Lilah?''
''It's amazing'' The small lights of the park through the panels illuminate the area perfectly. You could even call it romantic. ''This is probably one of the coolest places I've ever seen!''
''I know right, it's so much better when more people come though'' she looks at Harry ''Everyone is busy and no one can come, not even Charlie''
''Yeah but Charlie just brings shit, including himself to be fucking honest'' Harry slouches down in one of the tea cups.
''Harry!'' Chloe says
''What? It's true'' he says
''No'' she scrunches her eyebrows at him ''I like him...'' she continues quietly with a flight frown.
''Damn right you do'' Harry smirks at her. Standing here in front of these two I can tell they've known eachother for quite a while. I start to wonder who Charlie is, but I don't feel like asking questions. I walk over and sit down opposite Chloe on the larger ride seat as she lights a cigarette. She offers me one but I politely decline. I don't drink, I don't smoke. Not that I have anything against it, it's just never had any allure to me, I couldn't see the fun if not feeling like yourself, or not remembering anything. In all honesty, in kind of terrified me. And smoking well, I think we've all seen the pictures of the smokers lungs...

After about 45 minutes we had all talked. Chloe had asked me questions about myself, my tastes, why I'm working here, etc. I did the same. I learn that she's 21, she's studying art, and she's basically been working every summer since she was 17. I think she was surprised about my age, maybe she thought I was older... or younger. Harry just slightly talked inbetween comments, but mainly spent it on his iPhone. I honestly don't understand people who can spend hours endless on their phones without blinking, there are two people in front of you, be a bit more polite. But Harry was anything but polite. It was like a get to know fest. And in all honestly I was having fun. I think the simplicity of it is what made it so great, the light of the park still lit the ground around us. I was now lying down, looking up at the stars as I talked. I'm beggining to feel a little tired, I can feel the heaviness under my eyes.
''So Lilah, do you have a boyfriend?'' she asks.
(Hey! Thank you all so much for voting, I appreciate it sooo much! I may not be updating as much this week because I'll be abroad but I will as soon as I can. If anyone is wondering, I imagine Lilah as Gemma Ward when she was younger ;) thanks for reading and please vote or comment!)
