Chapter 19: Surprise Attack

Rogues POV

30 minutes earlier

"That's the last one." I say, throwing my pencil down and leaning back on my chair.

"Finally. That took a while." Sting replies following my actions.

"A while? It took us 5 hours just to complete last week."

"Then it should take less to complete this week. We didn't have as many job requests as last week."

"Forget it. Ask Yukino to help you. I need a break." I stand up and stretch, yawning in the process.

"I did ask her but she went on a mission with Minerva."

"Then do the rest by yourself. You are the guild master after all." I walk out the door with Sting close behind.

"Have you seen the amount of paperwork I do everyday?"

"Yeah which is for you alone to complete."

"Aw come on man! Help a bro out!"

"I have been for too long."

Sting pouts as we walk into the guild hall. I walk over the bar, ordering a water and grabbing my phone out. Rufus sits down next to me while Sting stands.

"Hey Rufus-"

"No."

"But I didn't-"

"You're going to ask me to help you with paperwork. If I remember correctly, you ask me everyday to help you. I think it's time for you to start doing your own paperwork for once."

I nod in agreement as Sting mutters curses. Frosch and Lector soon join us.

"So Rogue, where'd your girlfriend run off to?" Lector asks with a slight smirk.

I glare at him which is enough to remove his smirk. "She went off to Fairy Tail. She's was really stressed last night."

"How come?" Sting asks.

"Cass. It's not my business to tell but Cass has been on her back recently."

"I feel bad for her." Lector says.

"Fro does too."

"Honestly, how does she put up with her?" Rufus asks.

"I wish I knew." I reply taking a gulp from my water.

"Anyway, dropping that subject, has anyone heard from Orga yet?" Sting asks.

"No. I remember he took that job in the northern mountains a week ago. No ones heard from him since then." Rufus states.

Orga took this job that required a lightning mage to help stop a monster that's been terrorising the town. That was a week ago and we're starting to get worried about him.

"I've contacted the job requester and they said that they haven't seen him or the monster return so my guess is he's taking a while to defeat it." I add.

"Maybe. If he's not back by the end of the week we'll send a search party for him." Sting says, earning nods from me and Rufus.

Crack. Snap.

I perk up to the door and so does Sting. I look at Sting. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah. It could be someone about to come in."

"I don't know Sting. Something feels off."

"Oh relax would you?" Sting starts walking towards the door.
