As we reached the ticket table, I handed my ticket to Mr. Tucker, the English teacher. I also gave him $5 for a ticket for Jack. "Ah, Hannah. You know tickets had to be bought by Wednesday, correct?" he said. I nodded. "But please sir, just this once? I mean, after all it is the holidays." I asked with a plea. "Alright, but just this once, for the holidays." he replied and showed the way in.
As we walked in the door, the live music was blaring. The orchestra played beautiful classical music. Everyone was dressed so elegantly with flowing gowns, handsome suits, and mysterious masks. Everyone was dancing and having fun. Maybe because Jack was here. Another thing I noticed or felt was a lot of love in the air. But the weirdest thing was I felt like this has already happened to me before.
As I saw people dancing, I began to worry. "Jack, do you know how to ballroom dance?" After the last song was over and a new one began, he held out his hand, and I took it. Before a dance, a girl must curtsy and a boy must bow. I put my hand on his shoulder and he put his on my waist, then we grabbed hands. The music sounded so graceful and elegant. We danced and danced and he twirled me around and around. When the song ended, everyone bowed and curtsied again.
Jack and I decided to take a little break from dancing and sat down. "Time flies when your dancing, its already 10:00," I said, "and I'll be right back, I need to go outside for a second." "Ok, but hurry." Jack said, and with a smile, I disappeared into the crowed and outside to a small gazebo. The winter breeze blew in my face, but it was refreshing.
When no one was looking, I slapped myself across the face, and that's when I had a conversation with Manny. "Why me? What's so special about me? You could have picked any other person in the world, but you chose me, a mortal. I mean, really, what do I have that other people don't have? What' my center?" I removed my mask. "Just tell me why... please?" He didn't answer. So, I put my mask back on and turned around to go find Jack again. But when I turned around, Jack was standing right behind me. "He won't answer, but don't worry. We'll be able to help." he said. I stared into his eye and smiled. "Well, come on. You don't want to miss any more of your dance, do you?" He held out his hand and I grabbed it.
As 10:00 became 11:00 and 11:00 became 11:55, I started feeling really weird. Then, Mr. Tucker began to speak, "Good Evening everyone, I hope you all had a fun time. I would like to announce the king and queen of tonight's ball. And it's... Hannah Valentine and Jack F. Congratulations! Now go to the center and have your dance." We went up to the stage to collect our crown and we rushed to the center to have our dance. But oddly enough, Jack didn't really dance, he stared at me and smiled. It was 11:59, and Jack came closer and closer to me, it would appear that was going to kiss me. I blushed, big time. So, we were about to kiss when all of the sudden, the room becomes still and dark.. MY NIGHTMARE!! It's become reality. Then I looked at the window and there it was, the black dragon with glowing green eyes!
Everyone was in panic and had already left. The dragon glared at me and I glared back. Then I yelled, "Yes, I'm the new Guardian, Mori! Yes, I know who you are and you are not going to win!" And with that, he scratched my left eye. Then I blacked out, and woke up at the North Pole the next morning!
