I just turned 16 two weeks ago on February 23rd. I am currently walking to my Algebra 2 class in my favorite ripped jeans and plain a plain gray sweater with my black moccasins. When I enter the class I head to the middle back group of seats and sit facing the teacher. Slowly but surely the rest of the kids enter into the room.

As soon as everyone got seated Mr. Hutton bounces into the room and starts talking about how well his trip to visit his daughter went. Most of the kids encourage him to go on and act like we are listening because they don't want to learn how to do math. While Mr. Hutton was droning away about his trip to see his daughter in Idaho. I was to busy trying to get my hair out of my face to pay attention, I was tying the front of my hair in the back. I looked out the window with my head at an odd angle, from doing my hair, looking at the poring rain. I've never had a problem with rain, but I had a queasy feeling about today.

We were already a quarter of the way done with class by the time Mr. Hutton got done with his story. By then my nerves were all over the place from what could be coming. When I just started to have a light sweat on my forhead the door opened up and the principle, Mrs. Schamber, asks if she could see me. I felt like I was going to pass out on my way to the door. When I got out to the hallway there was two police officers with grim expressions on their faces. I knew one of them, his name is Ethan, he has a crush on my mom. When I looked at Mrs. Schamber she had the same expression on her face and I knew that what they were going to say would be the start of the down fall of my life.

Mrs. Schamber lightly put her hand on my shoulder and in a soft tone said, "Nevaeh, these officers have some unfortunate news to tell you."

All was quiet after that while the officers had a stare down to see who would tell me. Ethan sighed, and was the first to look away. I could tell he would be the one to tell me, as well that he was trying to think of a way he could. After a minute he took another breathe and began, "There was a fire this morning in Fremont. We don't know where the fire started yet but we do know it engulfed the whole house in a matter of minutes. The whole family was home, but there was no survivors." He rubbed his hand over his face and looked at me with so much pity and sadness, I didn't know what to expect. He did a final sigh and said very lightly, "Nevaeh, the family was the one that adopted your brother and sister. I am so-"

I didn't hear anything after that. The only thing going through my head was all the times I had spent with them before their new family didn't allow me to see them again. When I could hear them again it was the unknown officer talking, "are you ok? Nevaeh?"

I was crying so badly I could barely make out there faces. My vision went black as I felt the hard floor of the hallway come intact with my body. I couldn't see anything and I could barely hear the officers and Mrs. Schamber yelling, I couldn't make out what they were saying but I knew they were frantically talking. I saw my brother and sister's smiling faces in my head before I welcomed in the darkness.
