clarke sat at the kitchen table as lexa made the well-smelling cookies. lexa was her friend now, her only friend. clarke made a mental note to do whatever it takes to keep that friendship.
the blonde watched as her new friend made the cookies. she was so focused in the dough and rolling pin she didn't notice clarke's staring. lexa was humming a song that clarke recognized.
"um, you like halsey?"
lexa turned towards her. "hell yes. she better be working on her second album already." she shook her head and laughed.
clarke grinned, "don't know how it's gonna beat badlands though."
the other girl bit her lip and nodded. "what's your favorite song from the album?"
clarke thought for a while. "i don't know, really. but i really love gasoline."
lexa nodded. "my favorite is ghost. it's so relaxing but pulsing at the same time. and the video-" she stuck out her tongue and threw her head back, "fucking hot."
the other girl laughed. "for real! it was sad though too."
"i was way too lost in the hot girls and the sex to realize what the story in the video was." they both laughed at her remark.
lexa put the cookies in the oven before asking clarke, "you ever had sex before?"
the blue eyed girl's cheeks went beet red. "um- i-"
lexa laughed and threw her hands up. "hey, i'm just kidding, what kind of person would ask someone they just met that?"
"true, sorry." clarke laughed nervously. lexa sat next to her on the couch, they were really close.
"don't be," the green eyed girl smiled. "i guess human interaction isn't really my thing."
"same. because of my adhd and friend bank being at zero, i'm socially awkward and never know how to continue a conversation." clarke sighed.
"same. well, just ask me a question, and hopefully we can start a convo."
clarke thought. "um, how old are you?"
lexa thought, "seventeen. you?"
"sixteen."
"haha, i'm older than you." lexa stuck her tongue between her teeth.
"hey, just by one year!"
they laughed, then the brunette asked, "how is school going?"
clarke shook her head. "terrible. i have no friends what so ever, and even my teachers find me annoying. and now, everyone knows about my adhd, so i'm getting bullied."
lexa's jaw clenched. "maybe one day i'll drop you off at school and you'll show me who's bullying you. i will beat those asses until they can't walk anymore."
the other girl laughed, "it's good. this is my tenth school i've moved to already, because the bullies would start affecting my mom too."
"well, i'm sorry about that, you don't deserve it."
clarke looked at her. someone cared. "thank you."
she nodded. as if on cue, the oven dinged. "the cookies are ready!" she clapped her hands and opened the oven and took the pan out- without gloves.
"oh my god! are you okay?" clarke stood up, her heart beating fast. lexa turned around with the pan steaming in her hand, but she wasn't affected... at all. not even a burn, just ... fine.
"i'm okay! they smell so good, don't they?" she smiled and put them down and started removing them from the pan.
"how the fuck-" clarke gaped. how did she not get burned at all? she must have imagined it, but she was too stunned to ask.
lexa gave clarke a cookie, "enjoy!" clarke smiled and bit into the cookie. it melted in her mouth and clarke didn't mean to, but a moan escaped from her lips, "this is so fucking good."
lexa laughed. "don't have an orgasm, clarke! its just cookies, i didn't even touch you ... yet."
clarke blushed and looked up at the other girl, gaping. lexa just winked and bit into her cookie.
they ate while eating the whole pan of cookies. they spoke of clarke's bullies, albums, video games, and other things. clarke was surprised because lexa liked the same things she did- video games, movies, all under the same genre- horror.
in speak of horror, clarke saw her mom pull up in the driveway. "shit, my mom's here, i have to go lexa."
the green eyes filled with sadness and she nodded. "come back tomorrow?"
"i promise."
and before clarke could stop herself, she enveloped her friend into a long hug.
