Seven Months Later:
"Who cares if you'll get stretch marks, mon amour?" I continued to persuade her, "You'll look gorgeous either way. Imagine a little girl or little boy running around these floors, drawing on these walls, misbehaving under this roof! Isn't it a wonderful thought?"
She nodded, "I'm not saying I don't want a baby, Nico. I really do but I'm to young, we should travel around the globe together before having a baby, don't you think so?"
"Who says we can't travel with the baby?" I said, "We'll take him or her everywhere!" I wrap my arms around her waist and sway her back and forth, my eyes looking into hers in a pleading manner.
"Fine, fine!" She smiled, tilting her head back chortling. "Let's have a baby!"
"Push!" The doctor shouts at Regina, my wife of three months. "Regina, you have to push!" Regina grunts with all her might as she pushes the baby out.
Ruby has been married to Eddie for about nine months already and I was gifted with a son about the same time not I didn't know it, then. Regina showed up at my doorstep with a baby bump. "I'm seven months pregnant with your baby, Nicolas." I instantly knew I needed to marry her if I wanted my child to be a part of my life. We've been married for two months now and we couldn't be anymore — hateful.
Regina turned out to be a crackhead stripper and she happened to work that night I went to the no name bar after Ruby's wedding with Eddie. I hated myself so much for what I've done to her and I think I'm starting to operate properly without beating myself about it constantly. I do miss her, I won't deny it but I'm having a baby now and I need to give it my full attention.
Ruby will always be the love of my life but until I can find her and woo her, my child must come first. Besides, Chloe's husband informed me that Ruby is pregnant, too. She should be due soon if not already. "I see the head, Regina, keep going!" The doctor shouts again, Regina squeezes my hand roughly for support. "Push!"
Sweat is covering Regina's entire face but I can't say she doesn't look that bad, she's giving birth and anyone giving birth is beautiful even with all that sweat because what they're creating is a miracle, a beautiful miracle.
"Come on, Regina." I encourage her, letting her know I support her even if I don't get along with her. We've been arguing a lot since I married her but it's her fault for bringing it up. She's the one to initiate it and I'm the one to defend myself until she cusses me out and storms out. "Just a little longer!"
In a quick second, a baby's cry is heard. Regina sighs a breath of relief and rests against the bed, smiling as the doctor pulls the baby out and detaches the umbilical cord from the baby. "It's a boy!" He announces as he hands him to the nurse for cleaning and check ups to make sure he's healthy.
I smile, I have a son! "You did it," I smile. "You gave birth to my son!" Regina is breathless but she manages to nod. I watch carefully as the nurse takes our son away and the doctor starts preparing Regina to go to her assigned room for some rest before having our son in our arms. "I'll be back, you need to rest." I say softly, showing an unexpected sign of affection. "Do you need anything from the house?"
She shakes her head, "Maybe a burger when you return?" I chuckle but nod anyway. She deserves it since I've pretty much had her on a strict food diet for the baby's health during her entire pregnancy. The nurse comes up to me as soon as I walk out the delivery room. "Mr. Jourdan?" She asks, holding the clipboard tightly. "Would you like to name the baby now or will you want to wait until your wife is rested?"
