Prologue - The Package of Letters

A box of letters is delivered by owl. The only thing on it is the Gaunt Crest and a delivery address. Inside is three letters and a few photo's.

Dearest,
I do not know when you will read this. You could be any age from when you first learn to read, to when your twenty. That doesn't matter. What matter's is that you are happy and that you know the truth at some point in your life.
My name is Katrina Gaunt. I am your mother. As in your birth mother. I am not sure whether or not the Grangers explained this to you but they are only your adopted parents. When you were but a baby, your father and I feared for your safety leaving you to the protection of our muggle friends - The Grangers.
This may not make sense to you now but in due time it will.
I am sorry it has to be this way.
I love you. Your father loves you.

It should be your sixth birthday by now. Oh how I'm sure you've grown! I bet that you have your Father's dark eyes, and my long wavy hair! Beautiful complexion and a smile to die for.
If you even look like us. Dumbledore warned us that he may put a glamour on you to further your protection.

YOU'RE ELEVEN! Oh my goodness....how I wish I could be there. Seeing you grin, holding books tight to your chest, ready to start a new adventure - just your father. Or maybe you would be nervous and worried so, you would be clutching on to my arm for protection and listen to us sooth your fears and hand you your stuff. I may never know.
I wish you luck and many years of it! May your time at Hogwarts be the best!

Darling Daisy,
Did you know that your father and I almost named you Daisy? We thought that it was such a lovely name! Instead we decided on Alliana Sauveur Gaunt. Isn't that a pretty name? Yes, it means Noble Kind - Alliana, and Savior - Sauveur. I am not sure what Gaunt means. You father jokes saying that it means very thin by a sickly disease or of sorts. I think he just doesn't like the name. Which is understandable. There is a lot of great but evil history tied to the name.
However, never let that control who you are. A name's meaning does not define person. Be you no matter what people may call you.
Head well and be good.
