Chapter 9

I can't believe they still buy this. I mean I know I'm a good actress and all but it's been a week. They should at least suspect why there's not the least bit of improvement by now. Right ? I wonder if they already know and are plotting something to get back at us. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid. Yeah it's probably that one. 

I tend to be a bit paranoid sometimes. Or as I like to call it I'm suspiciously careful. Hey ! I see all you people out there judging me ! Have you seen how accident proned I am ? You'd be a paranoid pessimist too ! 

" Um Korra ? " 

" Yeah ? " I say looking up from where I was focusing in my thoughts. 

" You were mumbling again. " Carston said putting her book back on the shelf.

" Oh. Sorry. By chance did you happen to hear what I was saying ? " I asked worriedly. I could've just said all of that out loud and that would not be good.

" Said something about chipmunks being suspicious about your Nutella raid I think. You weren't talking very loud so I couldn't quite make out what it was. " She said looking through the shelves in the schools library ,which might I add is much larger than her. 

" You looking for something ? " I asked wondering why she was looking so frantically. 

" Yeah, I lost my favorite book. You know the one with the girl in the green dress, in the glass bubble on the cover ? " She said standing on her tippy toes to try and see another level of the shelves. 

" You mean  Matched ? Wasn't it on the third shelf fourth book over ? " I asked curiously.

Yes that seems pretty uptight and all but I promise we aren't that bad about having book put back exactly where they came from. We both have photographic memories ,well Carston's is only semi photographic. It only works like that sometimes but technicality is confusing so I just say she has one. 

" It was ! But now I can't find it anywhere ! " She said freaking out. 

" Hey girls what's up ? " Cole asked as he and Dalton walked up. 

" Lost a book. No time to talk ! " Carston said never turning her gaze. 

" Not even for your boyfriend ? " Dalton asked pouting. Man he's not a bad actor himself. 

" Nope. " She said only half serious. Yeah we take books a little too seriously ,which now that I think about it is probably why the librarian loves us so much. 

" Cough cough ! Nerd ! " Cole said and I hit him lightly. 

" Hey what was that for ? " He asked innocently. 

" She lost her favorite book. It's got a green cover and theres a girl in a bubble on it. " I said pointing towards the shelves. 

" Is that it ? " Dalton asked pointing to a book way too high for any of us to reach. 

" I THINK THAT"S IT ! GRAB IT ! " Carston practically shouted. Not the best idea in a library... 

" Well how do you expect us to get it ? " I asked realistically. 

" Um... Good point. " She said staring at it sadly. 

" I have an idea. Come here. " Dalton said lifting Carston up making her freak out just a little. 

" What are you doing ?! " She asked as he brought her up to his shoulders. 

" Can you get it yet ? " He asked and she brightened up. 

" Yay ! We found it ! " She squealed happily as she grabbed it and I had a mischevious plan. 

" Hey Cole. " I said quietly, looking over at him. 

" Yeah ? " He asked curiously. 

" Is that cord wrapped around Dalton's leg or is it just me ? " I said grinning twistedly and he just nodded. 

" Dalton look out for that- " Cole cut himself off by making Dalton trip and fall. I gave him the thumbs up as on cue Carston came tumbling down with him and fell on top of him. To be honest though she's like a toothpick so he probably barely felt her hit him. I put on my most realistic concerned expression and watched as she looked up. 

" Well hello Mr. Clumsy. " She said giggling. 

" Hello Mrs. Clumsy. " He said smiling back at her clearly amused. 

" Psst Cole. " I whispered tapping him on the sholder. 

" Yeah ? " 

" Don't you know that song, Kiss the Girl ? You know from the Little Mermaid. " I asked and he looked at me confused before he caught on. 

" I see where you're going with this. " He said smiling. He started quietly humming the familiar tune and when he starts I feel my heart flutter. Wait... Why did my heart just flutter like that ? No. No no no no no no. I can't be falling for him. He does not like me that way. Strictly friends, that's all we'll ever be so I need to get that through my head right now. 

 I see the two suddenly start leaning closer and closer until the moment I've been waiting for forever. They finally kiss, and it's honestly the cutest thing I've ever seen. I feel like Walt Disney with the happily ever after ,fairy tale stuff we just successfully made happen here.  

I watch as they pull back and Carston looks at Dalton happily. I can't help but be a little jealous of her though. She's got the perfect relationship ,which I'm seriously doubting is pretend at this point. I mean I see the way they look at each other. They seem so perfect together and I know she's happy with him. I wonder if I'll be that way with someone someday ? Psh who am I kidding ? I'm forever alone ! 

" What are you thinking about ? " Cole asked curiously. 

" Nothing. " I reply shrugging. 

" Korra, I know you and I know you weren't thinking about nothing. Come on, just tell me. " He begs and I really think about telling him. 

" Um. It's nothing important. I just, I don't know she's go a boyfriend now and I'll still be forever single.  It's no big deal. " I say a little embarassed that I just admitted that. 

" What makes you think you're forever single ? " He asked looking at me surprised. 

" It's not like guys are fighting to get my attention or anything. To be honest I think they fight over who has to be stuck near me throughout the day. " I say laughing it off as if it were nothing. 

" Well I know a guy who's happy to be near you. All day ,any day. " He said matter of factly. 

" Oh really ? And whom might that be ? " I asked crossing my arms doubtingly. He just smirked that stupid yet adorable smirk of his. He takes a few steps closer ,never breaking eye contact ,and I feel myself tense up the closer he comes unsure of what he's going to do next. 

As he stands right in front of me I feel a lump forming in my throat and can't make myself move the least bit. He leans down right beside my ear and whispers something I didn't really expect to hear from the " IT " boy of the school. 

" Me. " He said simply right before the bell signaling class rings. 

" See you later Korra. " He said leaving me in the library. 

" See you later. " I whisper under my breath. 


A/N: I'm sorry this chapter is sort of suckish ! I just really wanted to update and this is what happened and yeah... I'll try to make the next one longer and more interesting. Byah !
