Balancing on my little legs
I climb up onto my mother's bed
I see my head in the mirror
The face I see is not familiar
Lips so red they blind my eyes
Cheeks so rosy I look surprised
Eyelids so sparkly I cannot see
Except for the eyebrows frowning over me
I reach out to grab my mother's shoe
Ten sizes too big but it'll have to do
I topple down off the bed
'Look mummy, I look just like you!' I said
But then I blinked my eyes and cannot believe what I see
It's my own little girl looking up at me
She topples down off my bed
'Look mummy, I look just like you!' she said
I scratch my head, my hair is grey
I put on my glasses in dismay
I look below in disbelief
'Look Grandma, I look just like you!' she said to me
