Totally Like An Affair

Joey's Pov

I lied down on the floor for a good twenty minutes before texting Alyssa.

Joey: Hey, I messed up. come back?

Alyssa: I figured this would happen... lol sure.  :)

Soon enough, Alyssa returned.

"So, ready to talk? " she says, helping me off of the floor.

"No. but I will. If you're willing to listen. "

"That's why I'm here."

It was silent for a second before Alyssa spoke.

"I have a feeling this started after the accident."

"And you're right." I say to her.

"I have been drinking a lot more lately. "

"And the mood swings? " she urges me to continue.

"I don't know about those. "

"I guess I'm just.... sick or something. "

"I know you probably don't want to but, I think you should join AA."

"AA?"

"Alcoholics Anonymous. " she elaborates.

Before I can roll my eyes at the idea, she says,

"It'll be good for you! Just try it. If not for me, for Cat. "

"I'll do it for you. Not for Cat. " I say abruptly.

When I say this, she leans in and kisses me.

And I kiss her back.

I thought this wasn't an affair.

But it just feels so right.
