Midnight Secrets with Benjamin

When we get back the sun is dying down and the sky is darkened a little and most everyone is inside their houses. A few people are still walking around. I step from the truck and when my leg hits the ground pain spreads through it and it collapses making me fall. Blood soaks through the bandages and my pants. "Elizabeth what did you do!?" Jerry asks. "I...I re..." My words slur and my head spins. My body feels light like I need to grab onto something or I'll float away. The smell of roses whiffs through the air and darkness slams into me and the last thing I feel is my body, collapsing.

When I wake up my leg is numb and I'm in Morgan's house again, but not in my room. The  walls are white. It's bigger then my room and smells like old spice. "Good morning." Morgan says startling me. "I decided to let you have my room and I won't take no for an answer." He says. "You also have visitors who wanna see you, now that you're awake." He says throwing open my curtains. I groan loudly and squeeze my eyes shut. "How long?" I ask aggravated.
"3 days. 2 nights." He says.
"That's even longer-I've been working to pay off you debt. You only have 3 days left to work and no more debt." Morgan says smiling. I smile happily.
"It's night so I'll try to find who visited you."
"You said Good morning, but it's night."
"True." He laughs leaving the room.
I look around my new surroundings. It's nice. My eyes drift to the window. The moon shines into it but cuts off cause the lamps in the room. Then next I examine the ceiling fan. The lightbulbs make me squint my eyes. The long brown blades spin fast around it circles. I'm so deep in examining stuff I don't notice Morgan till he clears his throat. I jump and yelp in surprise. Benjamin, Jerry, Nicholas and .... King Ezekiel walk through the door after Morgan. "Richard's asleep." Morgan says.
"Are you feeling better?" Jerry asks. I nod and Benjamin grins at me.
"Do you need help getting around tomorrow?" Nicholas asks. I shake my head and he sighs. "It was just a little tear. Most of it was healing but there was a little part that didn't heal right and busted." King Ezekiel says. "Why don't we let her rest and come back in the morning?" King Ezekiel asks. They all nod and leave except Benjamin. We stare at each other and he walks over and kisses my forehead before pushing a note into my hand. He leaves and my whole body is tensed up. Holy shit. I shift and lay under the covers completely. I hear the door shut and unfold the note reading it in the little light I let cascade under the blanket.
"Meet me in the garden at 12:00 am."

My chest heaves a breath and I come from under the covers setting my alarm to 12:00 and I snuggle under the cover again. My eyes drift closed and my breathing steadies itself.
The wind is picking up and I hear walkers growling. I swing around and I'm in the garden I finally see them. Walkers everywhere I turn. My heart picks up speed and I cry out when one grabs my arm. They stop and stare as if waiting for my next move. The walkers stand in a complete circle around me and fan out in all directions as far as the eye can see. My heart jumps into my throat and that's when I here it. My Dad's voice coming through the howling wind. "Just give up Elizabeth!" His voice howls through the night. Then my sister's voice. "Elizabeth heaven is just as beautiful as we thought!" I twirl around looking for the source of the voice but no answers show. Then my mom's voice sounds right behind me. "Give up sweetheart we love and miss you...." The voices get louder and repeat themselves louder and louder to me. Then my skin crawls when this voice hisses into my ear. "JUST GIVE UP!!!" It howls and I get shoved to the ground harshly and the walkers set in and start to tear me apart. It feels so real and my screams flow through the air. "It's just a dream!" I yell. I see my dad's face and he smiles like a maniac. "Keep telling yourself that..." He growls biting my throat. Then an alarm breaks through the air.
I jolt upright and start whimpering. I check my body and everything is still attached. I shut off my alarm clock and climb out of bed. My leg is numbed and wobbles as I walk to the closet and open it. My clothes line the wall hanging there. I can barley see because the only light on the room is the moon's. For a moment I debate actually taking my stuff and leaving the Kingdom. Just running away from here like I did Alexandria. I shake the thought from my head. I've gotten attached to these people!
But you left Alexandria and you were with those people 6 years! My subconscious argues.
And you've barely been here a month and 2 weeks...
My heart skips a beat. Maybe....NO STOP!!
I grab an outfit and shoes. I change quickly and leave the house running towards the garden. I almost trip and stop. I see Benjamin standing alone. "Benjamin." I whisper walking over. "Quick before he realizes I'm gone." He whispers grabbing me and dragging me behind a bush.
"On the run I found this note between Ezekiel and Richard. And that's why Ezekiel was acting nervous and everyone was staring at you. I read a few words aloud and they all knew what was going on. We all knew before the note it was obvious before. Please read it and DO NOT  Ezekiel I gave you this." He says shoving it into my hand and darting from the garden disappearing into the darkness. My whole body shakes and the questions run miles in my mind. I race home and slam my bedroom door a little too loudly before jumping into bed I flick on the lamp and kick off my shoes. I snuggle into the bed deeply and unfold the note.
"You should tell her Ezekiel."
"Oh god Richard how I wish I could, but her eyes riddle me speechless."
"You're already in love with her. Just tell her, please. We all see the way that you look at her."
"If she doesn't love me back then, what?!"
"Ezekiel just tell her, she can't wait forever on you, be her Prince Charming because one day a prince will come for her and it won't be you."
"I don't know Richard she's perfect and she thinks I called her stupid..."
"If you ARE gonna hide please hide it better, I'm leaving we can't keep passing this note under the table."
My heart beat increases and I lay back setting down the note. I close my heavy eyelids. I open my eyes and put the note away and I end up dozing off right after.
