We left the Biefongs and found Appa waiting outside for us, Aang used airbending to hop up onto Appa's head.

"Don't worry, we'll find you a teacher, there are plenty of amazing earthbenders out there" Katara said noticing Aang's pained expression.

"Not like her" Aang looked up at the night sky with a sigh.

Katara, Sokka and I climbed up into Appas saddle, Sokka polished his belt happily.

"Toph! What are you doing here?" Aang jumped off of Appa as Toph came running up beside us.

"My Dad changed his mind. He said I was free to travel the world" Toph said with a beaming smile. Sokka and I exchanged a worried expression.

"Well, we better go before he changes his mind" Sokka said looking down at Toph.

"Good idea"

We left on Appa until we found a small clearing near by to set up camp.

"Do you guys think we will need the tarp?" I picked up the tarp and turned to see Sokka and Katara both turn to one another before Katara walked off in a huff and Sokka rolled his eyes.

"Am I missing something?" I asked Sokka as he took the tarp off me and placed it on the ground, "Just an old fight that never really got solved" Sokka admitted with a shrug of his shoulders.

"The bigger issue is, I didn't see Toph bring a tent so one of us might have to share" Sokka raised both his eyebrows in a playful way that made my heart flutter like a hamming birds wings, but before I could reply to Sokka about his idea of sharing a tent we where both taken by surprise as the earth underneath us started to shake for a moment.

Toph had earthbended herself a tent and seemed quite pleased with herself, she dusted the dirt off her hands before throwing her bag into the earth tent and walked in happily, Aang was standing just a few feet away chuckling at her adorable behaviour.

"Well, I guess that sorts out the tent problem" I pointed out and Sokka shrugged his shoulders disappointed, I shoved him playfully trying to cheer him up.

"Oh, come off it come on I'm not tall enough to get the tent straight on my own" I was trying my hardest to hold the tent up, I was on my tippy toes, Sokka grinned at my pathetic attempt.

The next morning was peaceful, we had all decided to sleep in and enjoy the morning.

I felt my energy levels rise with the sun, I took in a deep breath before getting up and leaving my tent, once again I sat and meditated as the sun made its way into the beautifully blue sky.

"You're up early" I looked back to see Toph sitting on a rock a little away from the path of grass I had found.

"I rise with the sun, the group thinks it's a firebender thing" I confessed, Toph sat quietly beside me for a moment.

"So Aang told me the story of how Katara and Sokka found him in the ice burg ages ago, but I'm curious, how did a firebender become part of the group? how come you aren't fighting with your people?" Toph didn't look at me while she spoke, she just played happily with a piece of rock she had picked up.

"I'm not from the firenation, I was born in the northern water tribe. I always thought I wasn't a bender a simple girl of the water tribe but I guess that was never true, I found out I could firebend the day I left the northern water tribe, apparently my parents had some secrets" I sat quietly thinking of what could've possibly happened in my parents lives to end up with a firebender as a daughter.

"But you don't know how to firebend probably do you?" Toph asked and I sighed deeply, the thought of having all of this power that I couldn't use frustrated me.

"No, I have never met another firebender before, the little stuff I do know isn't firebending forms, its water tribe" I got to my feet and clenched my fists.

"I was taught how to earthbend by badgermoles, trust me I know what it feels like, you'll find someone to teach you one day" Toph patted me on the back with a firm hand.

Toph turned to see Aang and Sokka walking towards them, "Katara is getting breakfast ready, Toph could you teach me a few basic earthbending stances?" Aang asked looking shy, he smiled in my direction before leading Toph away.

"Well, she's going to break his heart" I said watching the two walk away.

"Probably, but I don't want to talk about them" Sokka waited until he couldn't see Aang and Toph anymore before he pulled me towards him, I was surprised and let out a series of giggles.

We fell back onto the patch of grass I had been meditating on, Sokka pushed my hair off my face and traced his hand down my jaw and to my lips, he pressed his thumb gently along them before holding my head in his palm and lifting my lips to his, the sweetest taste lingered on his lips.

"Do I taste papia?" I teased kissing him again, I felt Sokka smile happily.

"Ayla! Sokka?" Katara was standing over the top of us now, her arms were crossed and she didn't look happy.

"Oh sorry!" I pushed Sokka off of me and sat with a big bright plush.

"Katara!" Sokka got to his feet and complained.

"Breakfast is ready, and if everyone could stop being so couply that would be great! first Aang now you! Its making me sick" Katara kept talking as she walked back over to the campsite, what had happened with Aang? I wondered but never got a chance to ask just as I went to follow Katara Sokka had pulled me back.

"Let's skip breakfast" Sokka said pulling me into him.

"What?! You! Skip breakfast!? are you okay? are you sick?" I put my hand up to his forehead and Sokka let out a loud laugh that had me laughing along with him.

"I had a papia remember" Sokka raised one eyebrow before placing a small kiss on my lips.

"Come on, I saw a river on the side of the hill as we flew over last night" Sokka took my hand and lead me up the side of the small hill that was covered in beautiful green trees.

"How far away was it?" I asked as we walked quickly.

"Not far" Sokka said and he was right we walked for another 5 minutes when we came into a wonderful clearing, there was a small waterfall that fell into a pond that was overflowing and running down the side of the hill. The clearing was covered in gorgeous flowers of all colours, i gasped as Sokka and I walked into the middle of it and I saw everything around us, a turtle duck quacked loudly from the pond and I turned to see Sokka looking directly at me.

"Sokka, it's so beautiful" I said as I felt the sun crept through the trees and I saw the fresh due sitting on the green grass.

"I thought we could spend some time here today" Sokka took my hand in his and we sat under a tree next to the pond and watched as the turtle ducks dove for algae and ate the bugs that hovered over the water.

A few hours later I woke to the sound of Sokka snoring, we had fallen asleep, it was the first time I had ever fallen asleep with the sun in the sky.

I left Sokka to sleep and moved closer to the pond, a turtle duck swam away scared of me.

"It's okay little guy" I said as I stripped down to my underwear and walked into the pond, the water was cold but refreshing, the turtle ducks watched me curiously as I dove under the water and swam towards the waterfall.

"I've never seen anything so gorgeous" I had been sitting on a rock just far enough from the waterfall that I felt the water splash up when Sokka had awoken and noticed me.

"The water feels amazing" I called out and Sokka wasted no time in stripping down and jumping in, the splash scared the turtle ducks and they flew away.

"Well that's a pity" I said to Sokka when he finally swam up to the rock I was sat upon.

"Oh well, more space for us" Sokka winked before pulling me into the water.

Sokka laughed and pulled me towards him, the warmth of his body was so different from the temperature of the water I was worried he was cold, I never really had any issues with the cold but I guess that was just another perk of being a firebender.

"Are you cold" I asked wrapping my arms and legs around his body trying to keep him warm.

"I am now" Sokka teased and he placed a small kiss on my forehead before he let us drift off into the center of the pond, we sat like this for a while before I started to notice Sokka getting tired.

"maybe we should get back soon? it must be getting pretty late" I said looking up at the sun, it was in the opposite side of the sky now and I knew it was getting into late afternoon.

"Soon, but I'm having a really wonderful time and I don't want it to end just yet" I let my legs drop and kicked them softly to keep myself above the water.

Sokka kept his arms around me and we begun to spin slowly and soon enough we were dancing in the water his head rested peacefully on mine.

"Sokka! Ayla!" We heard Aang calling out in the distance and before we knew it we had airbended down in to the clearing, his face went a bright red as he saw us.

"I'm sorry! I didn't know! We didn't know where you were!" Aang turned and covered his eyes dropping his staff instantly.

Sokka and I let out a roar of laughter that made Aang turn around looking embarrassed.

"It's okay Aang, we aren't doing anything, yet anyway" Sokka teased and I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, I pushed Sokka playfully before swimming to the edge and getting out of the water.

"I just told Sokka we should be getting back, sorry Aang" I said picking up my clothes and waiting for Sokka.

I listened to the birds sing as we walked slowly back down the hill, Aang jumped lightly through the air from tree to tree as Sokka and I watched him from the ground.

"So what happened with Toph? Katara was blabbing on about something earlier" I asked watching Aang who stopped instantly and didn't look down at me.

"What! nothing! why? What did she say?" Aang jumped from the tree and got very defensive before clutching his hands onto my shoulders and looking me in the eye.

I laughed and pushed Aang off gently, "She just said she is sick of the couple stuff going on and mentioned you and Toph"

I said shrugging my shoulders and walking forward, Sokka silently followed behind me.

"Oh, well nothing really happened, she must have just been overreacting" Aang pointed out before going back to the trees.

We walked in silence before we made it back to the camp to find Toph and katara packing up, well Katara was doing most of the work.
