Chapter 2

MeyRin's Pov

Later that evening

Mika and I made our way to Lord Ferid's mansion. When we got there, Ferid told Mika to go explore and that he would come and find him later. He turned to me, his face held it's regular smirk.
"So kind of you to share your blood with me. If only more of the livestock were like you." he sighed.
"It's only fair. You're keeping us safe, so why shouldn't we thank you by keeping you alive?" I smiled.
"Your very wise for you age, little lamb." he smiled. He gestured for me to sit down on the couch, and he knelt in front of me. I shut my eyes, expecting to feel his fangs pierce into my neck, but instead I felt his cold hands gently brush the sides of my neck before fiddling with something behind my head. I opened my eyes to see that he had fastened a necklace around my neck. It was a long gold chain, with a gold key at the end.
"Keep this with you. Don't loose it, okay." I nodded, and he leant closer to my throat again, and this time his fangs did pierce my skin.

I waited for Mika on the couch in Lord Ferid's living room. Ferid had gone to look for him when he finished drinking my blood. Mika soon came out of a door, and walked towards me.
"Come on, MeyRin!" He smiled.
"Run along now, my little lambs." Ferid's voice called after us, as we exited the mansion.

Mika and I returned home to find that Yuu was still awake. Apparently the kids enjoyed the curry that was made with the ingredients Ferid got for Mika in return for his blood. Ferid had asked me what I wanted, but I told him that the food was enough to be both of our rewards. He seemed surprised at first, but smiled and didn't ask further questions. Mika and Yuu were downstairs eating their curry, which I had decided I didn't want, and that they could have my share instead.
"We're getting out of this city." I heard Mika say.
"Did you steal that from that noble?" Yuu asked. Why would Mika steal from Ferid, when he had been so nice to us?
"The great Mikaela doesn't give away his blood for nothing." Mika laughed.
I heard Akane getting up and going downstairs, and heard Yuu and Mika tell her to wake all of us up.
"Okay." She said, before i heard the ladder creak slightly as she came back up to get us.

We walked through the dark halls and tunnels, following the map that Mika had stolen from Ferid. He had also stolen a gun, which he had in his pocket. The younger kids asked where we were going, and Mika and Yuu just told them out of the city.
Why would we want to go out there?
I thought to myself. We went up some stairs into the entrance of a large room, with a big door on the other side of it.
"Alright, we're almost there, you guys. Come on." Mika said. We were about halfway across the room when we heard a voice from another part of the room.
"I was starting to think you wouldn't show up." Lord Ferid said, walking towards us. The younger ones got behind Yuu, Mika and I.
"The look humans get when all their hope is lost, I just love it. That's why I play this game in the first place." Ferid laughed.
"Game?" Mika gulped. He looked at the map, and Ferid laughed once again.
"I see you stole that map from my mansion, and that appears to be my pistol as well. I must say, i'm impressed. What the map says is true, if you go through that door you will reach the human world. It will be hard to chase you there. But in here-" He darted towards us and then back to his original position, but he had taken one of the youngest children and was draining her of her blood.
"Pity, dead already." He dropped her on the ground. The little ones gripped into the three of us, crying. Tears fell from Mika and Yuu's eyes as well, but not mine. I don't know why, but it was like there weren't any tears to fall.
"Run, we'll hold him off!" Yuu yelled to the younger ones. Another laugh escaped Ferid's lips as he darted around the room, killing each and everyone one of them, and then he darted towards me.
"Run, MeyRin!" Yuu called. But the noble was much too fast for me. I stared up in fear as the seventh progenitor stood towering over me, a devilish smirk on his face. He grabbed me by the arm and brought his face to my ear.
"Count to three then fall to the ground." He whispered in my ear before sinking his teeth into my neck. I flinched, but counted to three, and I felt him release me and I fell to the ground, as Ferid had instructed. I didn't know what his plan was, but as I lay next to the bodies of my family, I realized it didn't matter. Mika and Yuu were the only ones left standing, since Ferid had killed the others. I should be sad, I should feel great sorrow, but I don't. What have they ever done for me, truly?
I heard a gunshot and looked over to see Lord Ferid fall to the ground, a large amount of blood surrounding his head. My eyes widened. Mika lay on the ground, a wound across his stomach, and his arm had been cut off. He was alive, but probably wouldn't be for much longer. Yuu was trying to help him up.

"Just go you idiot!" Mika yelled.
"Im not leaving you!" Yuu yelled back. Stubborn as always, Yuichiro. There was no way Mika would make it to the door, nevermind survive out in the open.
"Go, Yuu!" Mika cried. Tears poured out of both of their eyes, but Yuu turned and ran out the door, leaving everything he had behind.
